Of course, the budget for these was incredibly low, and sometimes Hallstrom and the group shot two clips in a single day. Still, even then it was impossible to escape the brilliance of songs like 'Knowing Me Knowing You', 'Fernando', and of course 'Dancing Queen'. The Winner Takes It All is their story - all four members of the band talk exclusively about their lives before, during and after ABBA. The DVD also includes “When I Kissed the Teacher”, a clip for a song not released a single, three Spanish language versions of videos, and a version of “Dancing Queen” lip synched at the gala tribute to Sweden’s King Carl XVI Gustaf on the eve of his wedding.

The ABBA in Concert DVD also consists of interviews and trailers, as well as a show at Wembley Arena in London. On “I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do” Benny and Bjorn mime playing saxophones (there is actual sax playing on the track) and the girls are shot in soft focus, giving them an angelic glow. By the time of “SOS”, Hallstrom was using some new camera tricks, and the group is filmed outdoors, which makes them look much more natural. Most of the videos were made by award-winning director Lasse Hallstrom, who today is well-known for movies such as My Life As A Dog, What's Eating Gilbert Grape and The Cider House Rules. Over the years to follow, I slowly discovered more and more great songs by ABBA, until it became official. You can see the change in the way they interact with each other, even in the staged settings of the various videos. So the first bunch of clips, including “Waterloo”, “Ring Ring”, and “Mama Mia” just feature the group lip synching, with Benny and Bjorn miming their parts on piano and guitar. But for all the brilliance of their music, Abba are remembered as much for their glittery costumes and general 1970s appearance - and perhaps this part of their legacy was never better exposed than in their groundbreaking music videos.

Hallstrom devised a style that included many close-ups of the band, particularly the girls, often shot in such a way that you look at one person’s profile while a straight on shot of another takes up most of the screen.

Under Attack”, filmed in a warehouse, has a claustrophobic feeling and ends with the four ABBA members walking, backs to the camera, out of the warehouse and into the light. Made at a time when MTV didn't exist and very very artists produced ''promo clips'' - as they were known at the time - Abba have been hailed as pioneers in this field.

Over the years I have played ABBA when I am feeling down ,they always help, especially lately to help with grief (that's knocked me for six). Nowadays, you can’t even make a video until you get to the point in your career where you’ve been totally made over and dressed by the record company.Collection of music documentaries focusing on Swedish pop group ABBA, including live performances and critical reviews of their eighth studio album, 'The Visitors', and the compilation album 'ABBA Gold'.

Fernando, Dancing Queen, Take A Chance On Me, The Winner Takes It All and Super Trouper are as loved today as they were when the four Swedes rules the charts worldwide. One amazing thing about these close-up shots is that, despite wearing makeup, you see a lot of imperfections that you would never be allowed to see in today’s videos. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others.
