About this deal

This may not be The Beatles greatest recording moment, but it holds up very well despite all the bashing its gotten over the years. It was released in the UK on 8 May 1970, almost a month after the group's break-up, in tandem with the motion picture of the same name. I have had in the collection for some time now a record that I thought was an original US pressing of the Beatles Let It Be. All the new ‘Let It Be’ releases feature the new stereo mix of the album as guided by the original “reproduced for disc” version by Phil Spector and sourced directly from the original session and rooftop performance eight-track tapes.

He omitted Don’t Let Me Down (the B-side of the Get Back single) and instead included a 1968 take of Across the Universe. The tray is again thin card but white backed the perferations for the machine fold show with all the white edges showing. maybe it was seen through rose tinted glasses when I was teen but looking at it now it really is shameful pap. Pretty sure that the * indicates your copy was pressed in Capitol’s Los Angeles plant (6-pointed asterisk).

The filmed rehearsals were marked by ill feeling, leading to George Harrison’s temporary departure from the group.

John Lennon – lead and backing vocals, rhythm guitar, lead guitar on “Get Back”, lap steel guitar on “For You Blue”, acoustic guitar on “Two of Us”, “Across the Universe” and “Maggie Mae”, six-string bass guitar on “Dig It”, “Let It Be” and “The Long and Winding Road”, whistling on “Two of Us”. The USA pressing went one stage further with this colour change as the labels had a red apple full and sliced. The Super Deluxe collections also feature 27 previously unreleased session recordings, a four-track ‘Let It B’e EP, and the never before released 14-track ‘Get Back’ stereo LP mix compiled by engineer Glyn Johns in May 1969.In January 1970, the remaining Beatles finished the album with the completion of Let It Be and I Me Mine. Products labelled '*item fulfilled by Exertis on behalf of hmv' will be supplied to you directly by Exertis via their approved couriers. Not particularly valued on release, it has gained traction over the years most likely when listeners realised the sort of music the four members would make solo. This measures 9½" x 16½" and is folded as designed, neatly at appproximately 12" to fit into the box. Thanks to George Martin/Glyn Johns/Billy Preston/Mal Davies/Peter Brown/Richard Hewson/Brian Rogers".They then decamped to their new studio in their Apple office building in Saville Row and on January 30th performed their last ever live group performance on the rooftop. Irrespective of the source, all of our collectables meet our strict grading and are 100% guaranteed. However, the critical response was generally unfavourable, and Let It Be came to be regarded as one of the most controversial rock albums in history. It was released on 8 May 1970 by the band’s Apple Records label shortly after the group announced their break-up.

The vinyl is in EXCELLENT condition, great stereo sound, occasional background noise in places but still sounds great. Although many criticised this album for what it's not (especially coming after Abbey Road)it shows the group as they are at the time, fragmenting all the while still making great music. In the USA, when Capitol Records purchased the United Artists record label in 1978, it issued the album on the Capitol label in a standard non-gatefold sleeve to further reduce costs, but included a color poster and photo inner sleeve. There is further weakening to the inner parts of the box, some creasing and small tears where the book sits in the recess, but this is the norm for this design of box and copies that have not shown any age distressing are almost mythical and very rarely seen these days. The album was delayed further and in fact became their 12th and final official album release on 8th May 1970 following additional production by American producer Phil Spector. This is in a really nice condition, free from holes and has never been displayed, with just a couple of tiny corner creases. The album sleeve is also printed on thin card buff finish however it is NOT laminated thus saving Apple 1d or 2d per sleeve remember EMI would be passing all pressimg cots on this means the sleeve will scuff and wear easily . Genuine Let It Be pressings with the red Apple were mastered at Bell Sound by a guy named Sam Feldman and that’s why you can see his initials “sf” scratched into the vinyl above.
