You never can tell with a lot of these - well lets be honest , B movies - whether you will get to the end and declare to yourself , ' there is 90 mins of my life that I wont get back ' , however I was pleasantly surprised by this little gem of a movie , give it a chance it wont disappoint . Closer to home - the South Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh - Roy Kirk's murder of Ann Hoover also had a hand in this film.

It’s a haunted house film, but the main focus of the story isn’t the haunting, it’s more of a detective story following a breadcrumb trail, occasionally interrupted by ghostly presences that really wish she’d pay more attention to the things they’re scrawling on walls and mirrors. It is obvious this is ultra indie work, still Brian and Laurence Avenet-Bradley create a cool, atmospheric thriller. Echoes of Fear opens with an elderly man (Norman Zeller – Malignant) taking a shower, who promptly dies in mysterious circumstances. In fact, to her credit, her acting is completely credible and her character is both likable and relatable. The tired old twists are boring beyond belief, the climax as generic as they come, the film washed out and rubbish-looking. The film has a fairly small cast which includes an elderly man living next door who is a chain smoker despite being attached to a portable oxygen tank, and a delightful pet mouse, rightfully given a credit (Twikie and Twixie). Trista Robinson has a sort of little-girl voice that’s initially really grating, and a habit of not only acting like every creak in the house is a serial killer sneaking in, but of then walking around in the house, in the dark, with her mouth hanging open and a gormless look on her face like she’s a teenager in a Halloween movie just waiting to get murdered.

As with horror game Maid of Sker, this is an ambitious but flawed product, but unlike the game, which didn’t do enough to truly stand out in the field of stealth horror, this film does. As she puts it up for sale, she starts to sense that there's a presence in the home that is not from our world. Good grief, why do so many female actors have their mouths gaping open like an idiot in every other scene? Then by halfway through it had actually accomplished a feat few movies these days are capable of – it made me jump and squeal like a child, with a really beautifully executed scare. Engage with a series of cryptic riddles, guiding your steps through a series of haunting houses, each hiding secrets that echo through the ages.

Plot holes - not sure who the squatter was, what the dead cat added to the story apart from an attempted chill factor, or what the heck they were doing with the extracted blood. Young woman inherits house from deceased grandfather and is beset by supernatural scares while living there to get it in shape to sell. Echoes of Fear premiered at the 18th annual Shriekfest Horror Festival, the longest running horror festival in Los Angeles, where it won Best Supernatural Horror Feature. No one even myself can judge if a film is going to be good or bad after 5 minutes, you have to give it time before you can decide it’s not for you.

What appealed to me about this movie is that the ghosts are only half the horror, in fact if anything they are the goods guys, despite looking "scary". Okay, so this is my first ever review but I feel like people NEED to be warned for the absolutely shocking acting by the main character. is super impressive with his skills LOL I'm not a pet rat enthusiast or anything but I do love animals. As others have mentioned, the lead character has a soft baby-like voice, which is obviously a little distracting since it's my first comment and the first comment made by many other reviewers too. But then it couldn’t resist cramming in jump scare on top of jump scare, so I went back to hating it for the next twenty minutes or so.
