Camping With Small Vehicles: Short on space? Can’t bring both a portable fire pit and a camp stove? The Campfire does both so you save space. The rest of the air gets pulled through the double-walled design and gets shot out towards the top. We fit six chairs around it and weren’t crammed, so I’d say for most families, this firepit is big enough for everyone to enjoy! And it puts out a lot of heat so you don’t have to cram intogether to feel it. We tested out the Solo Stove Bonfire in the wonderful Wyoming wilderness with the family! How do I prevent rain from getting in when I’m using it at camp?

The cooking ring is made of the same grade 304 stainless steel as the body and it’s designed to sit on top of the body for use and fit inside the body for storage. Solo stoves cook your meals with nothing but the twigs you collect on your journey, eliminating the need for heavy, expensive, polluting petroleum gas. It’s easy to light, fast to boil and clean to use.By using renewable resources for fuel instead of petroleum, you are reducing your carbon footprint. You’ll also keep fuel canisters out of the landfill. He was skeptical of the Solo Stove (“why do we need it?” he asked) and insisted we dig a permanent fire pit for our wedding two months ago on the upstate land. There’s something magical about campfires, right? They’re a place to cook, relax, and tell scary stories! Camping just wouldn’t be the same without them. But why do we need this ring, after all? Basically, we can call it a cooking ring. Its design has three 90°-folded tabs on which you’ll put your camping pot, pan, or camping tea kettle. This way, you’ll leave some space beneath the cooking equipment for better heat and airflow. This ring has a cutout place for putting more fuel through it. Plus, the Campfire is a special type of wood-burning stove called a gasifier (or gasification) stove. This is one of the most liked designs I’ve seen! This was created by Anthony Rizzo, and he has shared the info… thank goodness! Here are some basic instructions, and the materials list is below. Inside of the Solo Stove Campfire body is an integrated steel mesh. The mesh allows ash to fall through to the bottom of the body preventing it from impeding airflow to the fire. This the largest of the Solo Stoves and it not only makes a great stove it doubles as a raised campfire.

It’s nice and shiny when you take it out of the box, but don’t be disappointed when it gets a brown patina after you first use it. Don’t worry, there’s nothing wrong with it. That’s just part of using it. This allows the fire to burn more complete which is why there is very little smoke during full burn. A more efficient burn also means you'll use much less wood compared to an open camp fire. The Solo Stove doesn't just burn wood. It actually cooks the smoke out of the wood and then burns the smoke not once, but twice! The patina on the cooking ring remained after cooling, but I don’t mind it very much since I plan on using the Campfire a lot.

In my review article, I’ll share what I’ve learned about the Solo Stove Campfire from personal experience. That way you can tell if it lives up to the hype and is worth getting.Basically it means that although you’re burning wood, the Solo Stove Campfire acts a lot like a gas burner. That’s because at the final stage of combustion, it really is burning gas. Couples and Small Families: Since it’s only a 1-burner stove, you are somewhat limited with how much you can cook. But if you plan carefully and cook simple meals, the Campfire can easily feed 2-4 people. When a fire decides to blow its smoke in your direction, you stop being able to think, tears stream down your face, and your teeth clench in a grimace. You don’t know whether to move or wait it out. The set we got came with the stand – this is the piece of metal that the firepit can be set down on to reduce damage to the ground underneath, and I’d say it’s something you should definitely buy with it if you plan on taking it camping.

Usually, that’s when I’d turn to lighter fluid, but using liquid fire starters in your Solo Stove can be dangerous. You may need to use fire starter logs to make it easier. It didn’t take too long for the flames to die down, but it was a while before the heat of the coals at the bottom of the Campfire cooled. If we wanted to cook again later, it would’ve been easy to just drop some fresh fuel onto the coals and get the fire going again. Another testament to the great design and usefulness of the Campfire in the field. After placing the cooking ring on top of the body its vent holes seemed to concentrate the flames even more.
