A former bakery owner noted that “most of my breads lose about 12% in baking…Drier doughs lose less, wetter doughs lose more. And for more essential baking kit, read our best brownie tins, best tart tins and best stand mixers summary. And using such a small tin will result in the cake overflowing the tin and making a mess of your oven! I found this which may be some use - its from a UK site: Baking your loaf in a different cake tin size.

There is a small chance that the cake batter has too much leavening in it (in the loaf cakes this is bicarbonate of soda/baking soda, which is very active), causing the cake to rise excessively in the oven and overflow from the tin. The bicarbonate of soda should be measured with a proper set of measuring spoons (1 teaspoon = 5 mls and 1/2 teaspoon = 2. Most loaf pans (with the exception of Pullman style) are wider at the top than at the base so this distinction matters. The browning around the outside of the cake needed to be consistent in colour with no warm or cool patches. Actually, LaLoose, I have just been in to the Showroom and measured; I litre for a 1lb, possibly down to 900ml (as our pans are on the large size).

If your tin dimensions are shorter than those suggested, then your mixture will be deeper, so the mixture will be denser and will take more time to cook. The idea is that a 1lb loaf tin will take a pound of dough and so a 2lb tin holds 2 pounds of dough. This means that the advertised weight, which is useful for bakeries and others selling their bread, is accurate.

The generous portion of the tin is perfect for creating traditional loaves as well as lemon drizzle cakes, fruit loaves and even meatloaf, adding versatility to your cooking experience. When you purchase from us, you can rest assured that you're getting a truly exceptional product that has been carefully crafted to meet your every need.
