Description

The Chord mode rotaries also double up as assignable CC controls for manipulating parameters in a DAW or MIDI synth, which is a feature absent from the base-level KeyStep. An accessible interface, a compact design and comprehensive connectivity make it the perfect centerpiece for your rig - whatever your needs. I have an original OP-1 and would love it if this worked, but I have a vague feeling that it needs to run as a host, which it doesn’t.

To get to it I think on Syntakt you hold Record + tap Stop, stop again to toggle between Step (every incoming note takes a step on the sequencer) to Jump Step (skips steps based on the Len parameter in Trig page). If you’ve been wishing for a keyboard for live performance that’s not going to be too big to lug around but also feels sturdy, then this is it. Andertons Music Company is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, firm registration number 716155. The slim keyboard feels surprisingly solid, with fairly limited key travel and not at all spongey when triggering aftertouch. Bursts of unexpected musicality, of impulsive improvisations, of melodies forming themselves in front of you.

Is the 37 offering a considerate amount of inspiring tools more, in the arp / seq / chords depertment, that’s worth the upgrade? And you can choose whether sequence changes are queued, instant and reset, or instant from the same step position. At the centre of KeyStep 37’s interface, we’ve added 4 new control knobs with a screen, giving you instant access to inspiring new expressive tools and MIDI tweaking - total control. As far as I can see there are very few compact, three octave MIDI controllers around, and most smaller controllers have those silly tiny keys whereas this has somewhere a little larger which makes playing much nicer. For me, plocking MIDI cc + having all your sequencing in one place > KSP randomisation features, but everybody’s different. Andertons Music Company acts as a credit broker and not a lender and only offers credit products from Secure Trust Bank PLC trading as V12 Retail Finance. These are Chord Strum, which will space notes in a chord out to emulate a guitar-like picking, and Velocity to Notes, which allows users to adjust the velocity for individual notes in a chord.

Joining the modes from the original 32‑key model and KeyStep Pro is Pattern mode, which was an innovation on the MicroFreak synth. On the rear panel, the connectivity is the same except that the USB connection has been upgraded to a full‑sized port, and there’s now a power switch. All Arturia KeyStep controllers have velocity-sensitive Slimkeys (32 keys on KeyStep and 37 on KeyStep 37/ KeyStep Pro) with AfterTouch, a built-in Polyphonic Sequencer (8 note polyphony on the KeyStep/ KeyStep 37 and 16 note on the KeyStep Pro) with 8 pattern slots (16 on KeyStep Pro) per track (1 track on KeyStep/ KeyStep 37 and 4 on KeyStep Pro). I have removed one star for features due to the fact that there seems to be no way to dim the LEDs behind the buttons, and I find this quite distracting and uncomfortable in darker rooms as the lights are really quite bright! Elements of its counterparts are present: the keyboard itself is the same 37-note ‘slim key’ design as the KeyStep Pro, which has a nice feel for its size.Arturia have designed the KeyStep 37 to integrate well with your existing setup and it can be hooked up to your synth hardware with MIDI in/out and it's great for controlling VST instruments with MIDI over USB. Arturia have expanded the KeyStep to give you the KeyStep 37; a new take on the popular MIDI keyboard controller giving you more control with added features and great response.
