Social Thinking has helped more than 1 million educators, clinicians, and families teach social learners essential life skills including social-emotional learning and self-regulation. Childline (under-19s) trained counsellors provide confidential support on anything – no matter how small or large. I think it would be a great asset to therapists and parents of anxious youngsters, and it also provides a very useful resource for teachers dealing in any pastoral capacity with anxious youngsters, because it offers an excellent, accessible and straightforward introduction to using CBT techniques with young people.

All these words mean something very similar and they all refer to that uncomfortable feeling we get when we are uncertain or afraid of somethingunknown. Woven throughout are stories that encourage teachers to see instruction from a student’s point of view. I really liked about this book was the use of pictures, games and questionnaires to keep the information fresh and easy to digest. Based on cognitive behavioural principles, this workbook uses fun and imaginative activities to teach children how to manage their anxiety by changing how they think and act – getting rid of their Anxiety Gremlins for good!

One of the best parts of any of the three books in the Gremlin series in the real-life stories from others struggling with the same challenges.

This is one of the most useful and helpful books especially for children, that I've come across and would be super beneficial for support workers of children too. Children's Choice Winner at the School Library Association's Information Book Awards 2014 The Anxiety Gremlin loves one thing - to feed on your anxiety! The Information Book Award is an annual event, in its fifth year and is a major development for information books, being designed to support school libraries and to reinforce the importance of non-fiction whilst highlighting the high standard of resources available. This informative workbook is easy to read and fun for a young person aged 10+ to complete either on their own or with the help of a parent or practitioner.

Full of fun and creative activities, Starving the Depression Gremlin can help support and inform wider therapeutic work with young people with depression, and it can be used independently or with a parent or practitioner. Packed full of stories, puzzles, quizzes, and colouring, drawing and writing games, this is an excellent resource for parents or practitioners to use with children aged 5 to 9 years. Engaging and fun activities as well as real life stories from other young people show how our thoughts are related to our behaviour and emotions, allowing young people to understand why they get stressed, the effects of stress and how to 'starve' their Stress Gremlin! The book helps young people to understand the different types of anxiety, how to manage them and 'starve' the anxiety gremlin.Rooted in cognitive behavioural therapy, it is also bursting with strategies to help the reader manage their exam stress by changing how they think and act. Starving the Anxiety Gremlin is a well-written comprehensive workbook that helps readers identify the sources of their anxiety and learn effective ways of coping. Starving the Exam Stress Gremlin can be completed independently by young people aged 10+ or with supervision, and with exam stress on the rise among our young people, this invaluable resource will also be of interest to school counsellors, teaching staff, youth workers and social workers and parents. My critique is that it seems to be all over the place for age ranges - it says it is geared toward tweens and teens, but parts seemed written for much younger children. I'm convinced that this book will offer great help to young sufferers from anxiety, especially when supported in using it.
