Bond purists might wince a little, that such an extension of Fleming’s legacy was needed at all, but despite being shackled by the constraints of its period setting, Silverfin is an intriguing read. The book felt more like a superhero story instead of a spy/adventure type novel which I had expected. A hellebore is a poisonous plant often thought to resemble a rose, making a suitable name for the handsome but evil Lord Hellebore. The artwork was interesting, and reminded me of Mignola's art in Hellboy, but the characters tended to be a bit too cliched.
