Also you need a really Hi End system to notice the compression that was introduced by remastering it, other than that this thing slams as hard as the OG, turn up the volume and given how expensive the OG pressing is this is totally worth it. Admittedly I haven't heard any pressed from the Bob Ludwig cut, but I know the material well and I'm not missing anything in detail and impact. On this however, I can hear every individual instrument, which makes their sound hit that much harder. By far the best I've ever heard this album sound, though I can imagine some might actually complain about the lack of compression.

Coupled with how hard Rage's music goes in general, it really makes for a visceral rock 'n roll experience. Side note, if you’re a Ludwig fan, and you like Rush, his cut of Moving Pictures is the only one I’ve heard that I’d say is maybe better than this. The amount of detail, the soundstage, the dynamics - everything you want from a top notch record, it’s here. Epic Records, a division of Sony music Entertainment, © 1992, 2015 Epic Records, a division of Sony Music Entertainment. I then found your post and i know you have always had decent gear so i thought 'hang on, something weird is going on.And it seems like the bootlegs were copied from the reissue, so look at the inner sleeve for the copyright year (should only be "1992", not "1992, 2008" or some such. If there was ever an album I expected to be mixed crazy loud (not just compressed, I mean just plain loud too) it was this album. I also have the other version with the DAT recordings and it’s not as raw or punchy but definitely worth the money as well. Recently picked this up, and my copy matches the picture exactly - an “A” that maybe looks like RL on the A side, and an “A” that is clearly an A on the B side. Just picked up the Euro non RL variant 2 version of this album aka Holland version and it still sounds great.

This is obviously a much heavier album than any of those, but the sound is similar - most similar to the AC/DC presses, but with more low end. I then did some investigation on Discogs and found this has the same matrix info (RATM A1/1B) on it for a 1992 pink transparent Netherlands issue. Can you imagine when they were just getting started how much it must have sucked to have booked them as your opening band? This seems mediocre on the level of my Opiate EP by Tool, also released in '92, and both releases feature Maynard, who is, at least in my experience, known for putting out audiophile-grade releases. I bought this last night, making originally what i thought was a slight mistake (it has the stampers for the later MoV reissue not the first). This pressing is great, yeah it doesn't have the separation of the OG, but this album is mixed and mastered so good, that even CD slams, so this is perfectly fine pressing for majority of fans. It’s like this pressing is a cap gun and you’re 5 years old thinking cap guns are the shit, and then a cannon goes off in the yard next door.

I did an A/B of Take The Power Back from this pressing with the Tidal lossless version, and Tidal is way more dynamic and clear. I absolutely agree with all those people, but MOV did a reissue of the original UK vinyl AND the 20th anniversary. I own a lot of RL pressings and Ludwig’s initials are always etched distinctively, an obvious R and L. Forum members have not been kind about the Rage Against The Machine, S/T album, 20th anniversary remaster in the thread about it.But it really boils down to what kind of hi fi system one has, as I remembered listening to the original when it first came out years ago, it was an ear bleeding experience.

The boxset contains never-before-released concert material, including the band's 2010 Finsbury Park show and footage from early in their career, as well as a digitally-remastered version of the album, B-sides and the original Rage Against The Machine demo tape (on CD for the first time). What's more, it's clearly written on the inner sleeve, at least the one with the cut-out lid, that the album was mastered by Bob Ludwig. Couldn't help but let out a laugh when Timmy C's bass kicks in on People of the Sun - crisp, punchy low end that slaps you across the face.

Ludwig even cited it when asked in an interview about the three best sounding records he's (re)mastered.
