One alternative way to get DAB radio in your car is to use a pocket DAB radio and either listen with headphones or connect it to your car stereo via an aux cable. Fitting the car back together we we’re good to go, the only slight issue being the mount for the Highway 200 has a sticky pad on it and doesn’t quite feel solid enough when using the unit. While there are no special tools required, you will need to attach the DAB antenna to the highest point inside the car and then connect the controller to the aerial using the bundled cable, which will need to be clipped around your windscreen. The sound quality isn’t as crisp and clear as when listening to the radio – there’s a noticeable ‘hiss’ between songs – but it’s good (not to mention a legal requirement) to access Spotify or other apps without touching your smartphone. Whether you’re new to digital radio or already enjoy the great choice and quality of digital radio at home you’ll love listening in your car with Highway.

Finally the power cable from the controller, which has two sections, should be attached to your headphone socket and the cigarette lighter.I have thought that the power lead may be at fault as very occasionally it will work fine when the cars stationary, but as soon as I drive away the unit switches off. Using the FM transmitter gave decent results, but connecting via the aux cable (supplied) improved the sound greatly.

The technical storage or access is strictly necessary for the legitimate purpose of enabling the use of a specific service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user, or for the sole purpose of carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network. Like all our products, Highway was designed and engineered in the UK by our expert engineering teams, ensuring great sound and impressive build quality. line-in connector, then sit back and relax as you listen to music, audiobooks or podcasts safely as you drive. Had my pure highway for about a year and has been great(love planet rock),but now it's stopped working.

However, what if you have no intention of splashing out on a new car, but want to upgrade your existing audio system? There are two ways to connect to the wireless controller: either using the aux-in socket – which is the recommended way – or via the FM radio. Designed as an easy-fit solution for the millions of vehicles on the road worldwide without digital radio. The lead is long enough to pull around the inside of the top of the A-pillar, down through the inside of the rubber door seal, behind the glovebox and centre console, and out through the ashtray.

FM radio isn’t going to be around forever, current figures indicate we’ve got around 5 years at the most before the switch is flicked and the FM airwaves go silent. To use the adapter, you need to attach an antenna to the windscreen of your car, so it’s not quite as simple as “plug and play”. The flipside is that you’re left with a wireless controller fastened to your dashboard and an antenna attached to the windscreen. We found the display was easy to see at a glance – ideal if you’re driving and want to know which station you’re listening too.It is great if your current audio system does not have Bluetooth yet, as you kill two birds with one stone. The AutoDAB has an aux-out socket but no cable is supplied, so the unit has to rely on a poor-quality FM transmission. If you’re looking for a more discreet way to listen to DAB, then the AutoDAB USB is virtually invisible once installed. The display and control unit is wireless and battery-operated, so it can be placed anywhere on the dash without needing cables.

I've had mine for a month and it's pretty good, live in Yorkshire and get a good reception on the bundled aerial. This resulted in a station playing a loop of birdsong and ambient sounds, entitled D1 Temp which broadcast for almost two years.Highway is also Digital Tick approved so you can rest assured that you’re ready for any future FM to digital radio switchover. Assuming the installation has been done correctly, the receiver will pick up the available digital stations within seconds and you’ll have filled the 20 presets in no time at all. Save the Highway as a preset and it will make it easy to find if you’ve switched to another FM station.
