She died on 27 July 2021 from complications of motor neurone disease, aged 59, having been diagnosed in December 2020. The first novel of the series was titled ‘Birdman’ and was published by the Dell Publishing Company in the year 2000. Can you tell us a little bit about the two narratives, how they're intertwined and how some of the characters never meet?

She had an MA in film from The American University in Washington DC and an MA in creative writing from Bath Spa University UK.He remains haunted by the disappearance of his brother when they were children in the 1990s and is convinced that a neighbour killed him. But even though I got a reasonable secure hand-hold on the over-arching plot, I actually thought the Jack Caffrey sections were the least successful parts of ‘Wolf’.

I've always wanted to work with Iwan because he's done such fantastic work on screen, theatre and in so many different genres too. Kable was insane, convicted over and over for a string of offences- arson, Sexual assault, car theft. I think Megan has done a brilliant job with these scripts, really skillful and it’s incredibly challenging to keep everybody's stories alive through six episodes but she has really kept us on our toes. The episodes build and build and the finale is truly an example of everyone – actors, directors, scripts, music, art department, everyone! One more novel of Hayder's has since been released in 2022, published under the pseudonym Theo Clare. It’s a family locked together in an isolated home, with no possible lines of communication to the outside world and two men who plan to introduce them to new concepts of hell.

The BBC’s upcoming crime thriller series, Wolf, is based on Mo Hayder’s acclaimed Jack Caffery novels and is produced by award-winning Hartswood Films (Sherlock, Dracula) and APC Studios. The stakes are so high because he's also he's got to fund his family but they’re of course kidnapping a family so there’s a lot of risks and things that could go wrong. Mo Hayder is an incredible talent, with her latest 'Wolf', the seventh in the Jack Caffrey series, she proves this. There were so many things about the series that I felt an affinity with so when I did get the part, I didn’t believe my agent. What’s great about the writing is that it has some very comical elements to it as well as being quite dark, so you never really know what’s going on.I remember reading Birdman with a real sense of excitement, that this was a fresh and distinctive voice which also promised so much more to come. The whole Wolf scenario I didn't take to and found it all a little far fetched but the kidnapping interwoven with the history of before is what drew me in and kept wanting to read more and more. There was a lot of digging as I wanted to get to the root of my character to understand why he’s so aggressive in certain situations, when and why he’s become a wolfish character and where the pain is coming from. This book answers several questions that have been held over from previous novel and from the beginning of the Jack Caffrey series. She's also taken Honey and Molina's story and really heightened it – she wasn’t afraid to be imaginative or make it crazy or absurd at times.
