I have a been a fan of Jack Daniel’s for a long time, but I will admit that I am nowhere near squire-level fandom.

Soft with a more cereal-forward nose, it does indeed come across like a blend, a melding of various styles all in one glass. Both whiskeys undergo the same sugar maple charcoal filtration that all the other Jack Daniel’s Tennessee whiskey expressions receive. Chewy and more malt-focused on the tongue, the whiskey takes a peppery turn late in the game on the palate, a rumbling note of roasted almonds, milk chocolate, coconut, and indistinct spice all in a slurry. It’s smooth, with a noticeable palate weight, and exhibits pronounced caramel and butterscotch notes accompanied by stone fruit and tropical fruit flavors, along with cinnamon and a bit of clove.is, as the name indicates, a blend of three distinct mash bills – 60% Jack Daniel’s Rye Whiskey (70% rye, 12% malted barley, 18% corn), 20% American Malt Whiskey (100% malted barley) and 20% Jack Daniel’s No. Here, I’ve immersed myself in the art of crafting Mezcal, gaining a newfound appreciation for the craftsmanship that goes into distilling this ancient spirit.

It seems obvious that such a popular whiskey brand would run the gamut with their signature flavor profile, especially one as distinct as Jack Daniel’s. Looking forward to see what is next for Bonded series, maybe a bonded rye/Tennessee malt with an age statement (although 4 YO as per bond rules is not bad at all). Furthermore, a touch of sweet cinnamon and vanilla pull through, creating a brief reprieve from the spice and oak with their sweetness. Jack Daniel’s Triple Mash features a nose with banana, vanilla, caramel, rye spice, and clove notes.

The palate is a bit more complex than regular Jack, or at least strays farther afield than what you’re used to. More potent is the aroma’s winter spice foundation, of which props up the entire nose in a warming embrace. Selecting the more worthy barrels most certainly factors into the mix, and I would expect Jack Daniel’s master distiller Chris Fletcher and his team would select some of the better barrels for this particular release.
