Do keep in mind that there are also many “unofficial” Disney Princesses. These are characters who might be actual princesses (or similarly titled) in films, but who are not included in the official Disney Princess line-up. Think Elsa and Anna from Frozen (more on them later). Disney’s Moana is the only daughter of the chief of her tribe. This brave, determined heroine is chosen by the Ocean to restore the Heart of Te Fiti and save her island from the darkness. To protect her people and the island that she loves, Moana sets off on an epic journey across the Pacific. On her travels she meets the once-mighty demigod Maui, and together they battle all that the ocean hides. Disney is pretty vague when it comes to just who can be a Disney Princess. But there do seem to be some general requirements. Made from environmentally responsible FSC certified wood, (license C156989), and suitable for children aged 3 years and over. Not all Disney Princesses are official Disney Princesses. There are a number of princess characters that are not and have never been included in the official lineup, and they are:

On the ground floor, the drawbridge opens to the Grand Castle Entrance. Next door is the beautiful Seashell Boutique with a working swing! There’s also a Cottage Kitchen, the perfect place for Snow White to cook, and a Stable for Angus the horse, complete with wooden manger. The Disney Princess franchise highlights a group of fictional female protagonists who have appeared in Disney animated films. Each is considered either royal by birth, royal by marriage, or considered a princess because of their heroic feats. Upstairs, you will find a Spinning Room, which even has a toy spinning wheel. The Royal Throne Room, inspired by Princess Jasmine, complete with 2 golden thrones, as well as a Balcony Ball Room just like in the Beast’s Chateaux, with a fun spinning dancefloor. Moana’s ‘Heart of Tafitti’ inspired playroom features a fun slide that goes down to the ground floor. The last three Disney Princesses (Merida, Moana and Raya) are the only Disney Princesses with no love interests. Originally, there were eight official Disney princesses included in the line-up: Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas, and Mulan. Today, there are twelve princesses in total, eleven from Walt Disney Animation Studios, and one from Pixar. And more Disney princesses are expected to be added in the future, especially as Disney continues to buy up other media franchises. Who knows, maybe we’ll see Princess Leia or even a character like Gamora join the line-up in the future? 1. Snow White (Snow White and the Seven Dwarves) 2. Cinderella (Cinderella) 3. Aurora (Sleeping Beauty) 4. Ariel (The Little Mermaid) 5. Belle (Beauty and the Beast) 6. Jasmine (Aladdin) 7. Pocahontas (Pocahontas) 8. Mulan (Mulan) 9. Tiana (The Princess and the Frog) 10. Rapunzel (Tangled) 11. Merida (Brave) 12. Moana (Moana) Princess RequirementsUnder the sea, down where it’s better, down where it’s wetter, lives the red-headed mermaid Ariel! Ariel is fascinated by life on land and one of her visits to the surface, she falls for a human prince. Determined to be with her love, Ariel makes a deal with the sea witch Ursula to become a human for three days. But plans go sideways and her father King Triton is forced to make the ultimate sacrifice! This week, we’re delighted to be able to introduce Character Options’ fabulous new collection: Disney Princess World of Wooden Toys! Made from sustainably sourced wood, these toys are based on the Princesses from Disney’s most magical tales! Carefully designed with younger Disney Princess fans in mind, children can enjoy durable, sustainable, imaginative play with this lovely collection! The character should be born or married to royalty, or they should have performed an act of heroism (think Mulan).

Crafted for young Disney Princess fans whilst staying true to the classic Disney Princess styling, this fun range aims to stimulate a child’s imagination during play.

Alright, we mentioned Anna and Elsa earlier in this post. Both would seem to fit the criteria, so why is neither an official Disney Princess? The Disney Princess Enchanted Princess Castle Wooden Playset inspires imaginative play, allowing storytelling skills to develop whilst having fun! This beautifully decorated wooden castle playset features 3 floors, and 9 different rooms, bringing together a world of Disney Princess in one feature-filled playset. Jane Porter– this Tarzan character was planned to be one of the original Disney Princesses, but she was ultimately removed from the line-up. Jane’s signature yellow dress is very similar to that of Belle. It’s believed Jane was scrapped to avoid confusion between the two characters. Anna and Elsa Tinker Bell– she was added to the official Disney Princess line-up early on, only to be replaced by Tiana from The Princess and the Frog. Tinker Bell is now the lead character in the Disney Fairies franchise.
