A Fopp had just opened up near Fred Perry, and I remember buying [1933 George Orwell novel] Down and Out in Paris and London. This song was originally called ‘Down and Out’ and I had the start, I had the music, and it sounded very summery, jingly-jangly. We went on holiday two weeks later. People probably connect to that more than Down and Out in Paris and London, to be honest.” a b c d e f g Gill, Jamie (21 April 2008). "The Courteeners - St Jude". Yahoo! Music. St. Jude (album) - Wikipedia

The deluxe version of the album, which was recorded at Real World Studios In Paris, includes a DVD of the band's sell out headline gig at Heaton Park on 5 June 2015 where they played to 25,000 people. Responding to how some artists don’t seem to care about chart accolades, he added that it is, in fact, a big deal. Like Smith, the bearded 32-year-old understands the power of creating a feeling of unity against everybody else, dedicating songs to “anyone who’s had someone look down on them” and the aforementioned newspaper while stopping just short of becoming boorish. No one seems to notice that not all the songs from St Jude hold up too well, but the likes of Not Nineteen Forever and the later The Opener – a love letter to Manchester via the thoughts of a man who’s worked away, and another chant-friendly singalong – generate extraordinary levels of crowd euphoria. A first taste of Arena shows came with their December 2008 support slot on the Stereophonics' Decade in the Sun Tour. This saw them appear at huge venues such as the Manchester Arena, London's O2 Arena and Glasgow's Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre. The official advice is to use the Heaton Park stop for travel to the venue and Bowker Vale for travel post-event. For the safe management of crowds exiting the concert, Heaton Park stop will close at 9pm on the Friday.
