C: She has a small, sweet face that is blushing now, an innocent pale rose. I wonder briefly if all her skin is like that -- flawless -- and what it would look like pink and warmed from the bite of a cane. In spite of all the dark issues this book explores there are a surprising number of light and fun scenes and we get to see our beloved Fifty acting carefree and playful. I love his boyish delights in the simple things, like the gifts Ana gives him. It’s so adorable and while it made me grin it also made me a little sad thinking of all he missed out on growing up because of the things that happened to him. But it was great seeing him get to experience some of those things now with Ana. All three novels from Christian's point of view in EL James's #1 New York Times bestselling Fifty Shades of Grey series—now available in one e-book bundle. In the Christian version, there simply seems to be the idea that his family is too polite to ask the question. Christian seemed so in charge all the time throughout the Fifty Shades Trilogy, but this book showed you a more personal and humane side to him. It showed his vulnerabilities, how he truly felt he was unworthy of love, why he felt it best to stay away from Anastasia (and let her go at the end), what control really did for him, and his struggles to understand this woman that he actually felt something for. For the first time in his life, Christian was experiencing new emotions. Things he didn't know how to deal with, so he pushed them aside in favor of what he could handle-control, dominance and power. There may be some that think he is less "Alpha" in their eyes after reading this book, but I only saw him as stronger for it. I fell more in love with Christian in this book, and I didn't think it was possible to love him more than I already did.

Naturally when women are attracted to this man they want to know every little detail of his world, his EVERY thought and emotion, his actions and feelings in every relationship he has, his likes and dislikes on every topic under the sun. O: "Oh, Christ! (in italics) I have to endure an interview with the persistent Miss Kavanagh for the WSU student magazine. Why the f --- did I agree to this? (italics) I loathe interviews -- inane questions from inane, ill-informed, vacuous idiots. The phone buzzes. I really enjoy this series of books! I read the 50 Shades of Grey books when they first came out and I was first in line to see the movies. They all did not disappoint. There was also some suspense and drama in this book as the overall plot of the book starts to heat up. While I loved the focus on their relationship, it was nice to have a little more thrown in to up the overall ante! I do really hope that the 2nd and 3rd books are turned into films, this in in particular because I think that Jamie and Dakota would do wonders with the material in this book! In the meantime I’m off to relive the conclusion of their story in Fifty Shades Freed! But even with all this explanation, with the clear and well-trod defense of Christian, it’s difficult to understand him. Or rather, it’s difficult to understand why any woman in her right mind would take a chance on him. Where “Fifty Shades” readers could fill the mysterious blank slate of Mr. Grey with their own ideas of what he was thinking, in “Grey” the disturbing truth is revealed. Upon first meeting Ana, Christian must “repress [his] natural annoyance at [her] clumsiness.” When Ana vomits after drinking too much, he attempts to emotionally dominate her on the sidewalk outside the bar, thinking, “Let’s have some fun.” These moments slowly disappear as Ana changes him, teaching him to love, but it is difficult to forget what it is like to be inside “control-freak” Christian’s head.

Sample from chapter 10:"What's vanilla sex?" I ask, if anything to distract myself from the intense, burning, sexy look he's giving me. He laughs. "Just straightforward sex, Anastasia. No toys, no add-ons," He shrugs. "You know...Well actually you don't, but that's what it means." "Oh." I thought it was chocolate fudge brownie sex that we had, with a cherry on the top. But hey, what do I know?" With 125 million copies of the “Fifty Shades” series in print, there are few readers who don’t know precisely how they feel about EL James’s juggernaut of a series and its hero, Christian — the twitching palm that launched a million fantasies. I've never felt this desire, this . . . hunger before. It's a new feeling, new and shiny. I want so much from her: her trust, her obedience, her submission. I want her to be mine, but right now . . . I'm hers."There were a lot of light and fun parts in this book, more so than the other two, it was nice seeing them happy and being young and in love. But it was not without its fair share of difficult or heartbreaking parts, some that I remembered from my first time reading and some that I didn’t remember until I got to them again. They hurt just as much the second time around, but at least this time I knew what awaited me on the other side! I loved how it all wrapped up and I think that Ana and Christian earned the ending they got after all they’d been through. The epilogue was great and again brought tears to my eyes because it was so perfect.

This whole book and series is not really about BDSM, it is about love, transformation and the ability to heal and move forward. It is about the human struggle to overcome and understand who we are, what we want and need, and to find acceptance and love from others. Someone who will truly understand all that we are, even the darkest parts of ourselves-the parts that we are ashamed or scared of. Christian's whole life had been surrounded and enshrouded by darkness, but Anastasia brought light into his life. For the first time in his life he felt HOPE. That is very evident throughout this book. I now see Christian clearer, and as I originally thought, much of the negative feeling about Christian was due to Ana simply being too immature, and sometimes, even thoughtless. In fact, if Christian had known her thoughts, his opinion about her may have changed drastically. She simply couldn't see how much pain he was in when she tried to touch him. So, she constantly kept trying to even though he constantly begged her not to. And she kept on about Elena, and at this point of their relationship, he was right. It was none of Ana's business. You make me look at the world differently, Anastasia. You don’t want me for my money. You give me… hope,” he says softly.Sample from chapter 26: This is a man in need. His fear is naked and obvious, but he's lost...Somewhere in his darkness. His eyes are wide and bleak and tortured. I can soothe him, join him briefly in the darkness and bring him into the light. I just love the way E.L. James writes and I'm never disappointed in her books. I can always re-read them again and again. Gideon calls me his angel, but he's the miracle in my life. My gorgeous, wounded warrior, so determined to slay my demons while refusing to face his own.

O: She has a small, sweet face that is blushing now, an innocent pale rose. I wonder briefly if all her skin is like that -- flawless -- and what it would look like pink and warmed from the bite of a cane. F---. (italics) I stop my wayward thoughts, alarmed at their direction. What the f --- are you thinking, Grey? (italics) This girl is much too young. (italics) She gapes at me, and I almost roll my eyes again. Yeah, yeah, baby, it's just a face, and the beauty is only skin deep. (italics) I want to dispel that unguarded, admiring look from those big blue eyes. As anyone who has read the previous books knows, Ana and Christian’s story is one that is littered with secrets, betrayals, omissions of truth and it’s far from perfect. For me, the true beauty of this story lies within its imperfections it always has and always will. What drew me into this story first and foremost was the love story; two undeniably flawed people attempting and failing spectacularly at staying away from each other even when they know it could cost them everything. Being brave enough to embark on a new type of relationship, for both of them actually. Trying to overcome their insecurities, facing their greatest fears, sacrificing their needs for one another, and ultimately realizing that love is never easy, it’s messy and sometimes incredibly difficult and painful. Elena introduced Christian to the BDSM lifestyle. Following her rules helped him channel his anger and gave him the ability to focus on goals. He stayed with her five years before spreading his wings. He works long hours and doesn’t have much down time, but in addition to flying and boating, he enjoys unwinding with a sub in his playroom. It is a secret pleasure – and he intends to keep it that way. His family hasn’t a clue – he has never brought a girl home before; Elliot thinks he is a monk. Christian has since gone through many submissives over the years. He always enters into contractual agreements with the women so there are never any misunderstandings. It is the only kind of relationship he is capable of, and once the women want more from him he cuts ties. Susannah was his latest, and that ended about two months ago.An Absolute Must Read For Fans! A Colossal Trilogy That Tells So Much More About The Couple’s Story. He is physically BEAUTIFUL. Women are affected by male beauty just as men are by female beauty. Although some men would like to think this isn't so important to us. Emotional and spiritual maturity allows both sexes to see beyond the surface and experience love when beauty is not a factor. Unlike any woman he has known before, shy, unworldly Ana seems to see right through him—past the business prodigy and the penthouse lifestyle to Christian's cold, wounded heart.
