We bought a Fluval fx6 for our Roma 240 tank we will be making into a planted tank - hopefully giving us more than enough flow rate. I understand using smaller hoses will restrict the flow rate - will it be significant or should we still be ok? It’s a new setup – Sometimes the self-purging feature takes time. Wait up to 48hours to allow the purging to complete.Apart from flow rate is there any other reasons we shouldn't do this - could restricting the flow rate damage the filter for example? We are really keen to just use one filter using the already drilled holes for he inlet / outlet to keep things neat and tidy. I waited four months before going for a full servicing session. However, I do keep them in good shape by doing scheduled water changes and substrate vacuuming to remove excess waste and detritus weekly. This scheduled tank maintenance helps in prolonging the filter cleaning schedule.
