Flood is a perfect book to enter into the discussion of possible disaster that can affect any of our lives at anytime. The story is about a family preparing for a storm and deciding that their best course of action is to leave the home they love. This turns out to be the right move as their home is damaged by the storm. When they return they rebuild and move on with their lives.

Based on floods that happened in QLD in 2011, it captures the devastation of any flood. It focuses a lot on the hero's who band together to help. It is a well written story that I think is important to share with our children, for flooding happens a lot in many places around Australia. This wordless picture book provides a way to teach kids to continue. The family experienced destruction, but they decided to rebuild because it was their home. Kids can learn the seriousness of a strong atmospheric event through the images on this book. Zola’s 1880 novella The Flood tells the story of a smaller but equally devastating flood in south-west France, when the river Garonne bursts its banks. The narrator – an elderly farmer called Louis Roubien – recalls how the members of his extended family slipped beneath the surface or were swept away. It is a vivid illustration of how floodwater can claim lives, as it has recently in Venice and Derbyshire, where the county’s former high sheriff was drowned.Disproportionate Retribution: At one point, Ensign Dowski decides suggesting to Keyes to surrender to the Covenant, while being really insubordinate about it. Granted, this is one of the stupidest things anyone has said in Halo, but it's followed by Keyes tying her up and leaving her to be killed by the Covenant. It never occurred to us to be scared of floods. Every house we knew was built out of flood reach, and we all knew which streets that would turn into rivers when the tail of a cyclone whipped past, crashing corrugated iron and garbage bins against the fences. I Die Free: Yayap the Grunt's storyline ends with him deserting the Covenant and fleeing in a Ghost with enough methane to survive on his own. It doesn't last long, but he actually finds a little bit of peace and quiet before the Pillar of Autumn's engines explode, even enjoying the warmth of the explosion.
