Changing the depth of your cut is super easy with the Dewalt compact router. Just unclip a latch, spin the base until the bit is at the necessary depth, and then reclip the latch. No need to loosen a bolt or unscrew a tightening screw, or worse, loosen the collet and adjust the bit itself. This is awesome. I so want one of these X-Carves but I just can’t begin to afford one. I’m sure the DWP611 makes a good spindle though. I have one I use as my day to day go to router and it works really good. There are plenty of people buying this combination router set. Those who have bought it, and taken the time to leave a review, have given this model an overall buyer satisfaction rate of 94%.This is not a high powered router set, but it is certainly good enough for most woodworking tasks, and I believe if you are deciding what your first router should be, then this makes a very good choice. And i doubt that the one you buy from the USA will work on 240, they are obviously 2 separate products with a single manual (the one shared).

I've seen the teardrop shaped one, and i don't think it's quite wide enough. The original 24v spindle was extremely underpowered and had a hard time even cutting MDF and hardwood. Aluminum was basically out of the question, as you’d have to cut slow slowly and make so many passes that it just became an effort in futility. The DeWalt DWP611 is a 110v/220v handheld router that your simply remove from its base and insert it into the X-Carve as a spindle. You will need a DeWalt 611 spindle mount from Inventables to mount it, as the the DWP611 is a much larger unit and will not fit in the 24V spindle’s mount.
