Description

The club narrowly avoided closure in 1987, when its landlord sold the premises on to a property developer, who planned to convert the building into luxury flats. This was averted through the membership raising the capital to buy the property for the club. Au premier et deuxième étage, on trouve plusieurs salles de restaurant, le "coffee room” avec une vue imprenable sur Green Park et des salles plus petites pour les réceptions privées. It was a good demonstration of our combat effectiveness, and that we are always ready to fulfil our critical mission as a collective deterrence force.

Cavalry Club - Wikipedia

Exciting times here at our B Squadron, last night our Soldiers conducted training using the Army?s latest simulation technology VBS (Virtual Battle Simulator). One Club that hasn't been mentioned so far is The Lansdowne, just off Berkeley Square. Very reasonable prices, reasonable gym facilities, good pool etc along with a fantastic dining room and all the usual pleasures of a London club. One of the best things about it from my point of view is the large numbers of young members and almost even split in the sexes. Discounts to serving forces. While the foundation date is generally given as 1810, Sheppard (ed 1960) gives a date of 1813 and Thevoz (2018) gives a date 0f 1815. Le Cavalry & Guards Club (CGC) résulte de la fusion (en 1976) du Guards Club (fondé en 1810) et le Cavalry Club (fondé en 1890).

The Guards Club, established in 1810, was a London Gentlemen's club for officers of the Guards Division, originally defined by the club as being the Coldstream Guards, Grenadier Guards or Scots Guards, traditionally the most socially elite section of the British Army. Officers of the Welsh and Irish Guards were not able to join until the second half of the 20th century. Its clubhouse at 70 Pall Mall was the first to be built on that street, which later became noted for its high concentration of clubs; earlier clubs had been focused on the adjoining St James's Street. The kit also gives us the ability to link in virtually with other Squadrons in other locations enabling us to widen our training spectrum. Last night we were joined by soldiers from A Squadron in Nottingham and soldiers who were at home in various locations.

East India Club 1849–present (Incorporating the former Public Schools Club, which now makes up most of its membership) At the hipper end of the scale, there are places like the Groucho (a repellent sh1te-hole) and Soho House, both of which are slightly ludicrous in their attempts to be cool and Soho House is very sniffy about who gets to be a member.
