The steelbook included a 4k bluray and 2k bluray. The 4k bluray has Dolby vision and 5.1 audio, it also has special features. The 2k bluray had 5.1 audio but only includes the movie with no special features. From what I gather this is an older bluray release as the menu is different and the old Miramax logo comes up. right, but when looking at the grading directly compared to the old Blu-ray, the improvements are substantial. Siskel & Ebert’s “At the Movies”: The Tarantino Generation (16:00) has the former dynamic critic duo talking about how the writer/director has possibly influenced other filmmakers. an instant yet endearing classic... making big studios sit up and take notice of smaller independent R-rated features once again

type just above center. A Paramount logo appears at the top and UltraHD, Blu-ray, and Miramax logos at the bottom. Overall, this is a very nice looking steelbook, and a welcome addition to the growing Tarantino 4K collection. Film:While Pulp Fiction isn’t a masterpiece of filmmaking as some might contend, it’s still a very well made picture with the sharp writing we expect from Tarantino and one of the better ensemble casts put together. Pulp Fiction received a new remaster and the resulting 4K Digital Intermediate was used to source this Ultra HD Blu-ray rendering. Rating Certificate: R (for strong graphic violence and drug use, pervasive strong language and some sexuality)

For those not familiar with the details regarding Ultra HD Blu-ray you can refer to my article that includes some pertinent data on the subject. Here is the link: boost over the existing Blu-ray, which is included, though sans new transfer as initially advertised. The 2160p resolution offers a tangibly sharper Pulp Fiction was honored with an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay (1994) and earned seven total nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director for Quentin Tarantino. Easily one of the most anticipated catalog titles to date, Pulp Fiction arrives in Ultra HD in both a standard 4K and Limited-Edition 4K Steelbook (the subject of this review). I am thrilled that it is now a part of my Ultra HD Blu-ray library. Read on to see my thoughts on its technical aspects. There’s a good selection of extras included, mostly on the Blu-ray, which is the same disc and transfer as old release. We don’t get an audio commentary unfortunately (Tarantino doesn’t seem to be a fan of them, not having done one since the DVD release of Reservoir Dogs), but we do get over 4 hours of extras, including cast interviews, behind the scenes featurettes, critical reaction to the film, marketing materials, and an hour long interview with the man himself.

This is a genre film that strives to recreate the look and feel of director Quentin Taratino’s vision. Reminiscent of the better catalog release offerings that have come to Ultra HD Blu-ray, this rendering represents faithful reproduction bumped to the next level. Pulp Fiction has never made for a commanding visual experience on home video but, that was always sort of a given determined by the cinematography and the elements necessary to convey the film’s tone. Pulp Fiction was unlike any other film I had seen at the time. My first reaction to it wasn’t an especially positive one. It wasn’t that I disliked it but, I didn’t care for Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs and wasn’t sure what to make of the overtly dark, crass humor, nonlinear storyline, mishmash of elements and period references in this film. Then I watched it again. The second time around I came to fully appreciate Pulp Fiction for the intriguing film noir that it is. The wonderfully crafted narrative revolves around three intersecting storylines that feature Los Angeles based mobsters, small-time crooks, a crooked boxer and a mysterious briefcase. While this is not a UHD that is going to blow everyone away with a "wow" factor, it is a very stable and healthy image and one that offers a Maynard, Zed and Marsellus, Jimmy (entirely), Fabienne (entirely), and Vincent/Butch and the toaster.
