Klar gibt es altersgerechte Parts im Buch besonders wie der Umgang zwischen Imogen und ihrer Schwester. Da merkt man sofort, Ja beide sind Kinder. This was a really good sequel that I found to be better than the first book, it was more darker and suspenseful! For younger readers this does have mentions of murder, drowning, monsters, and kidnapping, but I found it thrilling to the story. The world is creative with flavours of Eastern Europe, described in smooth and easy storytelling to understand. Da es ein paar Kleinigkeiten gab, die mir nicht ganz so zugesagt haben, komme ich als nächstes Mal einfach mal zu meinen negativen Kritikpunkten. They are taken in by the lonely future king, twelve year old Prince Miro, whose uncle King Drakomor rules in his place. When the girls escape from a boring afternoon with Grandma into the teahouse gardens, they find a door in a giant tree trunk and enter the magical Kingdom of Yaroslav.

Mir, als Erwachsene, hat diese dunkle und unheilschwangere Stimmung der Geschichte total gut gefallen. Dank der phantastischen, mystischen Welt, in die uns die Autorin mitnimmt, gewinnt die Erzählung etwas richtig Märchenhaftes, was mich, als große Märchenliebhaberin, überaus gefreut hat. Also ich bin kulissenmäßig definitiv vollauf auf meine Kosten gekommen. Eine große finstere Burg, ein bedrohlicher Wald – fand ich echt klasse und da alles sehr bildhaft und atmosphärisch beschrieben wird, habe ich mir von sämtlichen Schauplätzen ein ganz genaues Bild machen können. Ein wenig schade fand ich nur, dass es keine Landkarte vom Setting im Buch gibt. Eine Karte hätte ich irgendwie ziemlich cool gefunden. Aber wie gesagt, ich habe mich auch ohne eine grafische Darstellung problemlos in Francesca Gibbons‘ Fantasywelt zurechtfinden können. This was one cute, little MG fantasy. Right from the title to the very plot, this beautiful story is quite enough to satiate one's appetite for more magical adventures and lost realms and kingdoms. It’s worth noting that there’s also a small projectile variation of Eyebeam too, where Dweller of Strife will blink and just hit you with a tiny laser. Phase 2

Waar het eerste boek vooral de vibe van west-Europese sprookjes heeft en zich afspeelt in het bos, ontvouwt het avontuur in dit deel zich onder de aarde en in het water: van steen gevormde monsters met brandende kruinen, riviermeerminnen met scherpe tanden en schubben, hebberig makend zilver uit de mijnen. Opnieuw een sprookje, met slechteriken, nog ergere slechteriken, gierige volwassenen, behulpzame ouders en monsters die kinderen uit dorpen laten verdwijnen. Ondanks haar vele zorgenbeestjes blijkt Imogen onverschrokken zus Marie te behoeden voor kwaad - maar misschien is het andersom wel Marie die haar redt. Could the monsters, that descend on the city each night, be terribly misunderstood?Could the king have a dark secret that’s destroying the kingdom?Strangest of all, can little sisters sometimes be useful?

Ma adesso andiamo a scoprire di cosa parla questo secondo volume ma vi avverto: per evitare spoiler non andate oltre nella lettura se non avete letto il primo volume. Auch wenn das Buch ja eher ein Buch für jüngere Leser ist, dachte ich mir, wenn ich nach leichter Lektüre suche, ist das nichts Schlechtes. Und prinzipiell fand ich die Geschichte auch gar nicht so schlecht, die Idee war wirklich gut, doch ich muss sagen, dass mir die Umsetzung nicht soo gefallen hat. Vermutlich lag das daran, dass ich nicht so die Zielgruppe bin, doch das hat mich bei manch anderen Büchern nicht unbedingt gestört. Hier war es aber so, dass ich mit den Figuren etwas meine Schwierigkeiten hatte. Auch wenn ein altersentsprechendes Verhalten natürlich klar ist, fand ich trotzdem, dass mir die Beziehung zu den Figuren etwas fehlte, ich konnte sie nicht so richtig aufbauen. Und das fand ich wirklich schade, denn die Welt an sich war sehr schön und die Handlung im Grunde auch, auch wenn ich sie etwas sehr vorhersehbar fand. Es gab dadurch für mich etwas wenige Überraschungsmomente, die nötig gewesen wären, um die Geschichte etwas aufzupeppen. Secondly, I really like a good old portal fantasy where the kids are swept up in the adventure and journey to a whole new land. It’s a troupe which has been done many times, but it’s fun and easy and I like the adventure. Garl, remembering the prophecy given to him by the Oracle of Tides, will ask for a Flask of Borrowed Time. This will allow him to continue – but only for a limited period of time. So you can understand why I was overjoyed to discover that this book will in fact be a part of a trilogy! (I absolutely can't wait to be reunited with these characters 😍)Gibbons, who worked as a copywriter at a marketing agency before leaving to focus on her career as a children’s author, added: “Being published by HarperCollins and working with Chris Riddell is a dream come true – not just for grown-up Fran, but for my 12-year-old self. That’s how old I was when I first had the idea for the story. I still can’t quite believe that it’s going to be read by other children – and maybe a few adults too.” The illustrations by Chris Riddell were what drew me to the book at first, and they really helped to add to the reading experience! I loved that they were sprinkled through out the book and it reminded me of reading Enid Blyton's stories as a child! ✨😌 In de wereld waarin oude, aftandse heks Ochi buitenshuis een knappe jonge vrouw is, de klok van sterren opnieuw voorspellingen uitspuugt en de arrogante, nietsontziende prinses Anneshka nog steeds op zoek is naar het beste koninkrijk, wordt het een race mét de klok: die leidt hen naar het hart van de rivier, langs met zilver behangen koninginnen en de kracht van de onwaarschijnlijkste vuurdraak ooit (lievelingspersonage!) 💓
