Description

Ingestion of large doses of the active ingredients has been reported to cause the following effects: Gastrointestinal disturbances such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea would be expected to occur with the menthol and squill. The alcohol in this medicine may alter the effects of other medicines. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking other medicines Expectorants such as squill and liquorice are thought to work by increasing the volume of fluid produced in the airways. This helps to thin and loosen the mucus in the airways, making it easier to cough up. However, you should avoid using Covonia herbal mucus cough syrup in combination with other cough medicines. In particular don't use it with medicines that suppress a cough, such as dextromethorphan, pholcodine or codeine.

If you’re driving and using machines: This medicine normally works without causing drowsiness, but care should be taken initially as in rare cases drowsiness may occur. If you are affected, do not drive or operate machinery. The medicine can affect your ability to drive as it may make you sleepy or dizzy. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure whether it is safe for you to drive while taking this medicine. Adverse effects on the heart may result from the cardiac glycosides in squill. Toxic doses may cause or aggravate heart failure. Supraventricular or ventricular arrhythmias and defects of conduction are common and may be an early indication of excessive dosage.
