Description

Born into a wealthy household, Potter was educated by governesses and grew up isolated from other children. She had numerous pets, and through holidays in Scotland and the Lake District, developed a love of landscape, flora, and fauna, all of which she closely observed and painted. Because she was a woman, her parents discouraged intellectual development, but her study and paintings of fungi led her to be widely respected in the field of mycology. Mrs Tittlemouse battles against a stray beetle who leave’s footprints all over her clean floor, a lost mother ladybug, and a web stringing spider, an infestation of bees making fun “Bizz, Wizz” sounds, among others, and finally an untidy frog who is attracted by the honey, but will he help out? Find out what Mrs Tittlemouse does with all her unwanted guests, to make the tale a happy ending, in this fun and beautifully illustrated tale of mice and bugs, toads, and all with funny sounds to make. Mrs Tittlemouse is a terribly tidy little wood mouse. She is always sweeping her burrow, polishing and tidying. It is an endless job and it seems that no sooner has she made a good start than another messy visitor appears to leave their muddy footprints everywhere.

Zizz, Wizz, Wizzz!” replied Babbitty Bumble in a peevish squeak. She sidled down a passage, and disappeared into a storeroom which had been used for acorns. I am not in the habit of letting lodgings; this is an intrusion!” said Mrs. Tittlemouse. “I will have them turned out—” Mrs. Tittlemouse was a most terribly tidy particular little mouse, always sweeping and dusting the soft sandy floors. For reference, the 2016 Jemima 50p coin had a mintage of 2.1 million, the Mrs Tiggy-Winkle 50p coin had a mintage of 8.8 million, the 2016 Peter Rabbit 50p coin had a mintage of 9.7 million and the 2016 Beatrix Potter 50p coin had a mintage of 6.9 million. And indeed it did. The little mouse spent the next two weeks cleaning up all the mess that her unwanted visitors had left behind. She scrubbed down the storerooms, rubbed the furniture with beeswax and polished her tin spoons until they shone like new.I am not in the habit of letting lodgings; this is an intrusion!” said Mrs. Tittlemouse. “I will have them turned out —”“Buzz! Buzz! Buzzz!”— In The Tale of Mrs Tittlemouse, Mrs Tittlemouse’s only wish is for her house to be clean and tidy, however, all her unexpected guests are not helping her at all. Is that honey?’ she wondered. ‘And are those dirty little footprints?’ Then, as she rounded a corner, she bumped straight into a buzzy bumble bee. The bee’s name was Babbitty Bumble. ‘Oh deary me,’ said Mrs Tittlemouse, rather crossly. ‘What are you doing in my home without an invitation?’ In her thirties, Potter published the highly successful children's book The Tale of Peter Rabbit and became secretly engaged to her publisher, Norman Warne, causing a breach with her parents, who disapproved of his social status. Warne died before the wedding.
