About this deal

This lens is perfect for shooting video. With SIGMA's expertise, the lenses AF functions are silent and smooth.

The Sigma 56mm f1.4 lens is designed specifically for Fujifilm X-mount cameras, including the X-T4, X-T3, X-T2, X-T1, X-H1, X-Pro3, X-Pro2, X-E3, X-E2, and X-E1. It is not compatible with other camera systems. What types of photography is the Sigma 56mm f1.4 lens best suited for? DSLR Cameras Canon EOS DSLR Cameras Nikon DSLR Cameras Digital Compact Cameras Instant and Single Use Cameras Instant Cameras Instant Camera Film Single Use Cameras Instant Printers But thinking about photographing strangers along The High Line made me realise that the three lenses I've most enjoyed shooting with this year have all been portrait primes. Reviewing the GFX 50R and 100 gave me a chance to use the GF 110mm F2, which might be the best lens I've ever used. Covering the launch of the Sony a7R IV gave me my first exposure to Sony's very impressive 135mm F1.8 GM. But it was a rather more modest lens that I used most often, and can most easily imagine myself buying. The lens is accompanied by the usual front and end caps and plastic lens hood, which seems very durable and doesn't add any considerable length to the lens, keeping it quite discreet for street photography. I also love the short barrel length of just 2.34 in (60 mm). This is incredibly compact for the capability it offers in terms of focal length and minimum aperture. As we found with the other mounts, image quality is great with a high level of sharpness and pleasing bokeh in out of focus areas when used at the widest aperture of f/1.4. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this lens for Nikon DX users who want an excellent portrait lens, and I’d probably also say it’s worth full-frame users considering it too if they want something more affordable and lighter than Nikon’s closest equivalent. Amy Davies. Sigma 56mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Verdict An excellent choice for use in a broad range of environments, this lens has a splash and dustproof construction. The focal length of this lens doesn’t really take you far beyond the telephoto reach of a standard kit zoom, at least for Canon EOS M and Sony A6xxx series cameras. The big performance boost is not only that the Sigma delivers great sharpness and contrast, but also that it maintains superb levels of sharpness and contrast at much wider aperture settings. In the case of our Canon-fit test sample versus the Canon 14-45mm kit zoom lens, the Sigma is more than four f/stops faster as well as giving a slightly longer focal length. The lens benefits from an open aperture of F1.4 to achieve a sufficient amount of bokeh and admirable brightness even with APS-C size cameras which tend to have smaller bokeh effects compared to 35mm full-size systems. Its compact and lightweight body is perfect for daily use, capable of capturing various scenes ranging from portraits to snapshots, as well as night view.

Fujifilm XF 56mm F1.2 R WR Build and Handling

Although this focal length may be a little too telephoto for most indoor shooting situations, I love using it to shoot landscapes. It forces you to narrow in on a subject and be more selective with your composition. Although the Sigma has a different finish to Fujifilm bodies and lenses that I’m used to, it still feels and looks good on the camera. And it’s small, measuring only 60mm (length) x 67mm (diameter) and looks balanced when the lens hood is fitted. As you’d expect for its size, it’s also light – weighing in at a featherweight 280g. Sigma 56mm f1.4 Fujifilm X Mount Focusing is usefully internal and manual focusing is possible when set via the camera body. Full-time manual focus override is also available at any time simply by rotating the focus ring. The bokeh of this lens is the other area where it excels. With a full frame equivalent focal length of 84mm, this is what most consider to be the ideal portrait photography focal length.

Sadly, the Sigma 56mm isn’t weather-sealed. There is a gasket at the mount to prevent some dust and moisture from getting in, but there is no further weather sealing in the lens barrel, so you might want to avoid shooting in adverse conditions. Talking of the mount – it’s made from brass. Performance Mirrorless Cameras Canon EOS-M Cameras Canon EOS-R Mirrorless Cameras Fujifilm X Mirrorless Cameras Nikon Z Cameras Sony Alpha Cameras Panasonic Lumix S Cameras Panasonic Lumix G Cameras Olympus OM-D & PEN Cameras Canon EOS-M Mirrorless CamerasAs indicated by the WR in the lens name, this is a weather-resistant lens, making it ideal for outdoor use. It has 9 rubber seals to keep out moisture and dust, though it should be noted that it’s unlikely to withstand full immersion in water. The front of the lens features a fluorine coating to repel water, fingerprints and dust, too. Optically, the Sigma 56mm f1.4 is as good as I would expect from a modern lens on a mirrorless camera – it’s pin-sharp where it needs to be. I’m not a pixel peeper and don’t pay particular attention to the very edges of the frame because they are rarely necessary to me. What I am concerned about is the autofocus. Thankfully, the Sigma performs as well as I would expect – it doesn’t miss a beat and is rapid. Unless you’re shooting sport at f1.4, you won’t find any issues with the autofocus. The Sigma 56mm f1.4 autofocus is also almost entirely silent. Sigma 56mm f1.4 Fujifilm X Mount Specifications
