The setting was strong and it was easy to visualize the events taking place in the different locations. I get the many points that the author was intending to convey. The plot was amazing, but poorly developed. The writing was underwhelming. No matter how much I read, I never really cared about the "mystery" and undercover operations. A vengeful Sise Fromm, Tig and Vlix confront Thall and his friends. Before the Fromms can hurt them, Proto-One shoots at the Fromm Gang and tells them put their hands behind their head. The gangsters try to flee but are confronted by a vengeful Boba Fett. Having lost the race, his speeder, his droid and nearly his life, Boba Fett decides that his debt to Sise Fromm is paid, and turns him, Tig and Vlix over to Jabba the Hutt. Fett is unwilling to listen to their pleas. I wish I enjoyed the content of this book as much as I did the cover, but unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Before I dive into why that was, though, let's start with some positives. There were a few times where I was confused about what was happening as there appeared to be no clear marker of a change in scene or paragraph. (Again, this could very well be down to the phone.)

Trotz der ekelhaften Bemerkungen lässt sich Aaleyah nicht kleinkriegen und versucht ihren Alltag so schnell wie möglich hinter sich zu bringen.

This book deserves a high rating for not only the personal touch of the writing, but also the message that is tells about concussions. While readers may very well have heard this message before, it is one worth repeating and if even if the book helps one person through his or her struggle with this injury, then Earnhardt’s reason for writing the book will be fulfilled. About a year ago, I started listening to Dirty Mo Dale’s Podcast. I started from the beginning and I just recently listened to the podcast about the release of this book. So, of course, I had to read this. While traveling through space, R2-D2 eavesdrops on Thall, Jord, and Kea over the intercom. Taking the job would require C-3PO and R2-D2 to be reprogrammed, which Thall, Jord and Kea object to. Upon hearing this, R2-D2 and C-3PO decide that it is time to part ways with their friends, because it will enable the humans to take the job and allow the droids to keep their memories intact for the time being. The droids enter an escape pod and eject it into space as the Sand Sloth jumps into lightspeed. C-3PO and R2-D2 decide to sacrifice their companionship for their friends' well-being. The author was high school age when the story was developed so I was expecting a young adult reader story. It was. But, dang! It blew me away! We have here the makings of a riveting plot, but the execution leaves something to be desired. It is partly the age of the writer that is likely to be responsible for the degree of telling versus showing on display. The character development is also somewhat uneven, with the female MC not just taking centre stage, but almost taking up the entire stage, at the expense of other characters.

Honestly, the foundation of this book is good - I wanted to know more about the history of town, the principal, Mr. Moretti, Garett, Lewis, and why Matthew and Brianna seemed to be the only two non-racist people in the entire high school. But that's exactly my point - I was so interested in some of these characters and plot points and I was just left hanging. What role did her teacher play in the town? What happened to Lewis? How did the operation stay secret for so long? And most importantly, what exactly was the operation?! At the Boonta stadium, Sise watches from a balcony, taking an interest in Admiral Terrinald Screed. Vlix thanks two tied up aliens for letting them share their private viewing box. Tig is eager to see Thall's speeder blow up. Jord is looking for Thall but the race begins soon. Boba Fett also competes, piloting his Silver Speeder as a late entry. Contrary to what one would expect from a book by a NASCAR driver, this is less of a story about the sport and more about today's understanding of concussions. What was most surprising was the revelation that there is a whole body of medicine geared toward overcoming concussion symptoms, that they involve exercises and training instead of invasive surgery, and that these methods are becoming more effective as the years pass. This was fascinating in light of the ongoing issue of CTE in the NFL, and the high-profile tragedies of players like Junior Seau. This makes Earnhardt's story even more of an inspiration, not simply to race fans, but to those dealing with similar conditions - there is help, and people should go and seek it. Now as an educator and looking for relevant books to add to my classroom, I wonder how transformative it would have been for me as a young teen to read a book where my existence is portrayed as strong, fierce and intelligent. Rating this book 5 stars does not do it justice but for now Comment by Sipder2To get Slow and Steady Wins the Race you have to complete 4 races provided from the quests A Race to the Finish. It was a seemingly minor crash at Michigan International Speedway in June 2016 that ended the day early for NASCAR star Dale Earnhardt Jr. What he didn’t know was that it would also end his driving for the year. He’d dealt with concussions before, but no two are the same. Recovery can be brutal, and lengthy.

Racing To The Finish brings to life what went on behind the scenes during the last couple years of Dale's racing career, as he suffered from terrible symptoms of brain injury but stubbornly tried to hang on to the sport he loved. It is a brave story told by one of the most popular drivers of our time. The video game Star Wars: Racer Revenge features similar racing tunnels to those found in "A Race to the Finish". So whatever I did when I raced at Talladega was always a really big deal, good or bad. If the grandstand felt like I was making a move to the front, they would lose their minds. Even with forty-plus cars out there roaring around, I could hear them cheering. If they felt like I had been done wrong, I could hear them booing, too. I loved it. Anyone who has played school sports knows it is almost impossible to get a coach to take injuries seriously, or to have the guts to even mention it to them. Nobody wants to get benched. Why did we have to guess the ethnicity of Alyeah’s friends? I can only assume that they were Latinx and Asian American but could never fully confirm that in the book. Nichtsdestotrotz liebe ich sie :,) On the tenth lap, Fett's speeder attempts to trap the White Witch with a tractor beam but R2-D2 hurls the detonator at Fett's speeder. Thall Joben wins the race with the White Witch. Fett is forced to eject from his craft before it explodes, destroying the vehicle and his droid. The announcer and Thall's friends congratulate Thall. C-3PO is also jubilant. Kea also thanks R2-D2.
