Yes. In fact, more lubricant can help the condom do its job even better. Additional lubricant can reduce friction even further to minimize the chance of the condom breaking. It can also reduce the chance of irritation of delicate tissues which can lead to infection.

Just like other health and beauty products, such as makeup, sunscreen, and deodorant, the key difference between the regular and “natural” version of the product is the type of ingredients in it. Regular lubricants are typically made with chemicals, such as parabens, petroleum, glycerin, and synthetic fragrances. Some ingredients are not harmful to vaginal health, but studies have shown potential risks with certain chemicals. Parabens are a common agent found in lubricants, and the WVE says this chemical can cause irritation to the vaginal mucous membranes and genital rashes. Fragrances or flavors can include various chemicals, which can include carcinogens, allergens, and reproductive toxins. Another common chemical found in lube, chlorhexidine gluconate, can kill off healthy bacteria in your vagina. The first thing we noted when we saw the bottles from Roam was the braille on the side of the bottle. This is the only time we have seen something like this on any of the bottles. It wasn’t a discreet placement eitherm but the entire side of the bottle. We never think of lube as needing to have a well thought out design or be inclusive but Roam highlights how clever little additions can make a product.

If you love the idea of using coconut oil as a natural lube, but don’t necessarily want to use the jar in your kitchen, reach for this great alternative instead. Completely organic, edible, and hypoallergenic, this natural lubricant contains various plant oils and butters for an effortless slip without irritation, odd smells, or unpleasant tastes. Even better? Testers rave about the quality of the product, emphasizing that it’s set a higher bar. Oil-based lubes are usually made using natural oils such as vitamin E or coconut oil. They’re long-lasting and waterproof like silicone. They help with more severe dryness, says Dr. Eilber, but they are not compatible with latex condoms, and they could stain bedding and clothing.

Many of these treatments are now available over the counter such as Estradiol tablets, sold under the brand name Gina10. These were once sold on prescription only, but pharmacists can now sell them. These tablets can help dryness, soreness, itching, burning and uncomfortable sex. The ingredients are naturally hydrating so your skin will feel silky smooth when you’re done. It has a mild vanilla scent thanks to the vanilla flavor added, but nothing too strong. It’s even safe to swallow! Cons: They can't be used with latex condoms as oil breaks down the latex. You can however use an oil-based lubricant with polyurethane condoms. If using an oil such as baby oil or petroleum jelly, it may risk the chance of you developing a vaginal infection or UTI (Urinary Tract Infection). Oil lubricants can also stain your sheets too, so you might want to lay a towel down before using it. Natural lubricants The researchers looked only for the presence of parabens in breast cancer samples. The study did not show that parabens caused or contributed to breast cancer development in these cases – it only showed that they were there.. studies have not shown any direct link between parabens and any health problems, including breast cancer. At Yours, we've put together some information, including the pros and cons of the different types of lubricants out there, to help you choose the best lubricant for menopause dryness - and the type of lubricant that's right for you. Water-based lubricantsIn fact, there are three lube ingredients we’re asked about more than any others, so we thought it’d be a good idea to talk about them – what is lube, and what are the most common ingredients? 3 Popular Personal Lubricant Ingredients What is glycerin, and is glycerin lube safe? Glycerin is a naturally-occurring compound that’s extracted from plants. This silicone lube contains just two ingredients: Cyclomethicone and dimethicone, two types of silicone that are FDA approved for use in skincare products. ASTROGLIDE X Silicone Gel
