Description

CIA’s director Kennedy gets the information about evidence of a mole scouring the Agency’s database for sensitive information on Nicholas Ward, the first trillionaire. Rapp has to protect him. But this time Rapp’s job is as difficult as he has to protect Ward and use him as bait to find the face of a traitor who is passing valuable government information. With no time to lose, Rapp must stay one step ahead and work with his skeleton crew, all while remaining in the shadows. Kennedy is relying on him, though it will be Rapp’s own intuition that propels him forward in this mission. No one is safe, least of all those who are not used to the tactics of cutthroat child soldiers in the jungles of Africa. Will Rapp finally realise that it is time to walk away, or does someone have a more drastic means by which to end Rapp’s career? A chilling story that keeps the reader guessing throughout. Meanwhile, when Kennedy discovers evidence of a mole scouring the Agency’s database for sensitive information on Nicholas Ward, the world’s first trillionaire, she convinces Rapp to take a job protecting him. In doing so, he finds himself walking an impossible tightrope: Keep the man alive, but also use him as bait to uncover a traitor who has seemingly unlimited access to government secrets. First, I am very grateful that Kyle Mills has continued the Vince Flynn legacy. It is Vince's first novels (along with Clancy) that drew me into the genre enough that it prompted myself to start writing. Mitch Rapp could not have been left in better hands as the stories continue.

There is a wolf in the White House and mole in the CIA and only Mitch Rapp can stop them both in Vince Flynn/Kyle Mills' newest work, ENEMY AT THE GATES! There is a new president in the White House and Rapp, Irene Kennedy, and Mike Nash must navigate the political waters of Washington and prevent a president hellbent on power and greed from changing the world landscape. Not only does Rapp have to stop the president's influence abroad, but Rapp, along with Scott Coleman, are tasked with saving the richest man in the world and using him as bait to snuff out the traitor in the CIA. Can the #1 badass on the planet survive the jungles of Uganda, the desert of Saudi Arabia, and the thoughts of walking away from it all for good? And they’re making the assumption that Chism’s dead,” Cook said, standing. “Which is almost certainly correct.” He offered his hand. “Thanks for bringing this to our attention, Nicholas. Irene and I will talk about it and let you know what we come up with.”She’ll object to not being in the loop and privately criticize the details of the operation, but that’s all. She doesn’t believe Chism is alive any more than we do, and she knows her job is hanging on by a thread.” It is so welcome to read a book--to escape--that doesn't mention Covid, vaccines, or masks. As an author, I appreciate the challenge of writing a true-to-life thriller that doesn't include what is now a past (and thus, dated) pandemic. There is nonetheless a true-to-life air of dystopia (obeying billionaire cabals over love of country) that the characters grapple with. Regional threats have a way of expanding in unpredictable ways, Mr. President. It’s a lesson we’ve learned over and over.” Moles in the Government, double crosses, Deepfakes, Fake News: Enemy At The Gates should be found in the Current Events section of your favorite Bookstore, not the Fiction section.

I heard what happened in Uganda, but the details that have reached my desk are still sketchy. We have limited resources in that area and I’m not sure the local government’s fully on top of things.” As the steward of Mitch Rapp and the characters and world created by Vince Flynn, Kyle Mills is excelling. He has taken the saga to new heights. Enemy at the Gates is Mills' best novel in the series, and may very well be the best in the entire Mitch Rapp catalogue.Unbeknown to the President, Nicholas Ward and Irene Kennedy are well acquainted, even friends, reflecting having sat at meetings with similar interests. Ward runs a massive foundation designed to resolve the problems of humanity in areas of health care, renewable energy, employment, violence and poverty. He has the Midas touch. Irene Kennedy is leery of this new President, and his wife, a highly successful hedge fund manager, who only view people in terms of usefulness to their agenda goals. Although of a newer generation, this President is a typical self-serving Washington,DC politico, one who commits to nothing unless it personally benefits the president. You are either a friend or an enemy.

In 2011, he was diagnosed with advanced-stage prostate cancer and succumbed to death in 2013. Vince Flynn Books Summary American Assassin The man walking toward her seemed to fit perfectly with the environment he’d created. At forty-four, Anthony Cook was one of the youngest presidents in US history. He’d managed to rise from the turmoil created by the suicide of his party’s front-runner, crushing the more conventional replacement candidates endorsed by the establishment. The American people had been fed up with business as usual for a long time and that, combined with the hardship brought about by the electrical grid failure, had sent them on a search for someone different. Wyoming. My father was an FBI agent and I was a bureau kid, which is similar to being an army brat. You tend to spend your time with other bureau kids and get transferred around a lot, though, I fared better on that front than many others. Honestly, the first half of the book dragged and was a slow read. However, when Mitch goes into the field on his mission things really spice up and without giving away any spoilers you will be glued to the book for the last eight chapters. Except to scream, want to pull your hair, and cry. Talk about an emotional rollercoaster for those of us who have read the first nineteen Mitch Rapp novels. Be sure to catch my interview with Kyle Mills! Kennedy brings some startling concerns to the president, that there is someone within the Agency scouring through sensitive intel and providing it to America’s enemies. The crux of the data leaks relate to Nicholas Ward, the world’s richest man. His work in the pharmaceutical field could change the lives of many, but if he falls into the wrong hands, there could be serious repercussions. President Cook agrees and allows Mitch Rapp to head out, in hopes of protecting Ward on the other side of the world.Democracy can be chaotic at times, and autocracy demands all, not a sharing of power. Kyle Mills is postulating a deliberate analogy to today’s world. Did you take note? Mike Nash– Mike Nash is a friend and former partner of Mitch’s whom Mitch mentored and helped get a desk job at the CIA. The Cooks see democracy as interfering in their autocratic lifestyle. Irene Kennedy’s biggest problem and worry, is her Agency being manipulated for the power it holds. Mitch refuses to pledge loyalty to Cook. Irene Kennedy shares Rapp’s viewpoint that politicians are not trustworthy. Setting David Chism aside for a moment, Gideon Auma is the leader of a terrorist organization that’s allied with Islamic extrem—” This thriller, set in Uganda, has David Chism a brilliant scientist, being hunted my terrorist and psychopath Gideon Auma. Nicholas Ward who funds Chism's research hires Scott Coleman and Mitch Rapp to rescue David against President Cooks demands.

I will say I considered giving the book 4 stars rather than 5 because it gets the Saudi-US energy situation (one of the key motivations) so wrong. The US does not, and has not for years, depended on Saudi oil--we produce most of our own. US oil imports come primarily from Canada, not SA. Fairly close friends, in fact. Their relationship had been cemented by a recent bioterrorism event that she’d had no choice but to bring him in on. The long days, long nights, and logistical nightmares they’d faced had given her a healthy respect and personal affection for the man. He was one of the most impressive people she had ever met and seemed to honestly have the good of mankind at heart. The fact that some of his views were a bit naïve was more than overcome by his enthusiasm and almost supernatural competence. When Mitch Rapp captures ISIS’s top technology expert, he reveals that he was on his way to meet a man who claims to have the ability to bring down America’s power grid. Rapp is determined to eliminate this shadowy figure, but the CIA’s trap fails. Make no mistake folks. The Mitch Rapp Legacy is in great hands with Kyle Mills and we get to reap the rewards of his efforts.
