Description

Although most of us won't be able to have a global impact, there are a number of things we can do to have a positive impact on wildlife in our area. Pollution comes in many forms, including pollution from rubbish, air and water pollution, noise and light pollution and soil contamination. Pesticides can wash into rivers, contaminating the water and harming more than just the bugs targeted on crops. 4) Global warming Why not do this Hedgehog Awareness Week Reading Comprehension (Ages 5 - 7) next? Other Animal Activities Students will use drawing techniques to create realistic colored pencil drawings of endangered species.

Equus grevyi, also known as Grevy’s Zebra, is the largest species in the horse family, with its unique stripes varying from one zebra to another. They live primarily in the plains in East Africa. Due to hunting, loss of habitat and unavailability of freshwater, the population of this species was declining rapidly. You can still find some Zebras on the northern side of Kenya and the south of Ethiopia. After the release of this print, legal action was taken, which is why Grevy’s Zebra are now legally protected in Kenya and Ethiopia. All eligible artworks submitted to the art contest are considered for this award, by grade category. Axolotls are an endangered species because nearly all of their original habitat has been lost. Originally, axolotls lived in Lakes Xochimilco and Chalco in central Mexico. Over time, Lake Chalco has been drained of water to prevent flooding, and it is now completely gone. What’s more, Lake Xochimilco, is no longer classified as a lake and is now just a series of heavily polluted canals. Blue whales can be found in all oceans of the world, but they tend to migrate to different areas depending on the time of year. For the majority of the year, they live in deep waters near the Arctic and Antarctic regions, as this area contains a large amount of krill. Then, during mating season, they travel closer to the Equator in search of a warmer climate, so they can give birth in warm waters. TigersDELISTED species living or migrating within the United States and U.S. territories, or within the territorial waters of the U.S.: The Endangered Species Coalition is enthusiastic to announce the awards for the 2022 contest! In 2022 ESC will provide a total of six student artist awards. In addition, we’re pleased to offer awards to teachers whose students are awarded one of the final six prizes in 2022. The teacher awards are provided with the intention of increasing student access to high-quality art materials in the classroom, and recognizing teachers for their hard work supporting the contest. The educator who instructed the student in creating the work submitted to the contest will be eligible for the award. Endangered Species is one of Andy Warhol’s 1 most influential artworks. It raises awareness of the situation of extinct animals around the world. Warhol created the entire project in 1983, at a time when he had mastered the concepts of capitalism and production. Prints of Endangered Species were exhibited in New York and sold at various fundraising awards. The idea for this groundbreaking project came after a passionate discussion with New York art dealers, who are also a husband and wife, Ronald and Frayda Feldman. Although extinction is a natural phenomenon, with between one and five species becoming extinct each year, we are now losing dozens of species every day. It is estimated that one million species (including plants) will be lost by 2050. Learning facts about endangered animals is the first step to raising awareness about this issue. Teacher stops class to pass out and explain critique sheets. Teacher uses an example that they critique together as a class. Students write their names where it says “Name of Artist” and place their drawing next to the critique sheet. Then, they get up and find someone else’s sheet, put their names where it says “Name of Critic” and critique that student’s drawing. This is a great thing to do before students have finished their artwork as it gives them suggestions as they are working on it.

Teacher has students turn in texture samples and warm-up (to be used for teacher as a pre-assessment of students’ understanding of texture). Teacher asks for definitions of texture and compiles a list on the board of descriptive texture words used in warm-up as well as called out by students. Teacher explains actual versus implied texture and gives examples.
