Gregori is very old and has some old ideas. He is stubborn and overbearing. But he is also very sympathetic. He loves Savannah so completely. And their love scenes are very, very hot. They must learn to trust each other to work together, which isn’t easy since the High Court is built on deceit and lies. This hunt begins an exciting adventure with supernatural creatures, assassins and more. The monk showed it to his guards the next day. The legend sounds silly, but there is evidence that supports that the Codex Gigas may have actually been written in one night. When analyzed, it would take one person at least five years to copy all of the Codex’s contents; five years of non-stop writing.

Primrose is such a great female lead, I loved her strong personality which didn't falter at any point in the book. She knows what she wants, she stands her ground and isn't afraid of a good fight. The Carpathian's dialogue is wooden. "Will not" instead of "won't"..."cannot" instead of "can't"..."let us" instead of "let's". I know it's supposed to seem Old World, but it's annoying. The night was alive with the heartbeats of countless people. He walked among them, unseen, undetected, moving with the fluid grace of a jungle predator. Their scents were strong in his nostrils. Cloying perfume. Sweat. Shampoos. Soaps. Alcohol. Drugs. AIDS. The sweet, insidious smell of blood. There were so many in this city. Cattle. Sheep. Prey. The city was the perfect hunting ground. darkmagicnovel is the first book in the Chronicles of the Underworld Series by @ralucanarita. First, I have to say that Dark Magic is a stunningly beautiful book. I loved the hardcover edition, and I loved how pretty the inside of the book was. And then I am also very happy to report that the story is just as great as the aesthetics of the book! Dark Magic was a fantastic paranormal journey and I can't wait to see where the next book in the series is going to take us.

This was an incredibly fun read. The tone of our MC, Primrose is perfectly developed, and it made it awesome to read from her POV. If you like action scenes, mythology retellings, and characters that must travel to many different places, you'll want to add this to your TBR.

Gregori is one of the oldest and the deadliest of Carpathian men. As with all the men of his kind, he lost the ability to feel emotions and see in color when he turned 200. He's nearly a thousand now. And he is dangerously close to losing his honor and becoming the evil vampire he hunts. All vampires were Carpathians to begin with: they all drink blood; can use telepathy; shapeshift; and must avoid the sun. But Carpathian men who give up hope of salvation, of finding their lifemate, embrace evil and become the beast that is the vampire. If you've read any of this woman's supernatural romance, then you know how this book reads. I lost count how many times she used the word velvet. I'm really not a romance reader, so by the end of the book I was skipping the sex scenes skimming the repetitive bits about how perfect they were for each other, yadda yadda yadda, and was trying to finish reading the bits with some actual plot in it. I don't recall there being many trees along the boardwalk, and I guaranty that there aren't any fraking snakes sleeping in them. Still, the book survived, “mined as a source on witchcraft and folklore,” and his material on practical magic and sleight of hand “found a large audience,” Davies writes. ForScot’s original aims, that wasn’t good. Rather than debunking stage magic for the masses as he’d hoped, “Discoverie” became a handbook for magicians in Europe and America, well into the 17 th and 18 th centuries. Famous works such as “ Hocus Pocus” and the “ The Juggler’s Oracle “ drew heavily on “Witchcraft,” thus spreading the very mysteries that Scot had hoped to quell. Davies: “[I]t travelled in directions Scot himself may never have imagined.” But before they can figure out a way to alert the police, the evil forces send an assassin after Peter. Live, on stage, in the middle of his magic act.

Okay, I'm addicted to this world despite all the repetition in the writing and overuse of phrases. I think part of it is the actually interesting world-building that's going on. A lot of paranormal romance doesn't bother much with that. It's ALL about the romance/sex and the surrounding myths and supporting rules of the world are skimmed over. This is heavily skewed toward the romance, but there is also world building as well. Some people will say that demons are nothing but projections of the mind, others will say they’re actual entities with free will, residing in a different reality. Whatever the case may be, they are real, and you would be foolish not to take advantage of communicating with them if there’s a way to do so.
