Description

Control Freak: Known for her bossy attitude and being Noddy's biggest critic. This element of her was toned down in Make Way For Noddy though still seeps through sometimes, such as in "Driving Miss Pink Cat". The first book explains Noddy's origins. He is made by a woodcarver in a toy shop but runs away after the man begins to make a wooden lion, which scares Noddy. As he wanders through the woods naked, penniless, and homeless, he meets Big Ears, a friendly brownie. Big Ears decides that Noddy is a toy and takes him to live in Toyland. He generously provides Noddy with a set of clothing and a house. While Noddy is quite happy to be a toy, the citizens of Toyland are not sure that he actually is one. They put Noddy on trial and examine whether he is a toy or an ornament. Eventually, Noddy is declared a toy, but still has to convince the court that he is a good toy. The judge accepts that Noddy is good after a doll tells the court that he saved her little girl from a lion, and he is allowed to stay in Toyland. Noddy gets his car in the second book. It is given to him after he helps solve a local mystery. Noddy was relaunched in 2011 with a different theme of 'Noddy Takes To The Air'. He became a pilot in this series, and Bandai were charged with creating a range of successful toys based on his adventures.

The Cutie: Tessie is one of the cutest characters in the series. She enjoys spending time with Noddy and Big Ears. Mr Plod the village policeman, Bumpy Dog, The Tubby Family, Tessie Bear plus Sly & Gobbo the mischievous goblins are just a few of the most popular characters to be made into Noddy toys. Noddy promised to help all his friends, but he is soon tired, and realises that he has bitten off more than he can chew. Mr Plod also get a few Make Way For Noddy episodes centred around him; "Mr Plod In Jail", "Mr Plod's Little Problem", and "Mr Plod and the Jail Bird".

This show contains the following tropes:

Character Development: In the original books, he was very naive and unfamiliar with life. As seen in the 1952 book "Noddy Goes to School" , he isn't able to understand reading and handwriting despite owning a car. In his book debut, Noddy isn't familiar with building a house and wanted the roof to be put up first. ◊ As a result, Big Ears had to teach him how to build his own house properly. As the books progressed, Noddy starts becoming more intelligent and familiar with life. This was kept in the 1975-1976 stop-motion series due to being a direct adaptation of the original books but left out in all media starring him. Jim Calder as Lurk Goblin, the father in a family of goblins who live in a small doll's house and create much of the drama in the series. He mainly talks gibberish, with a few recognisable words.

Adaptational Modesty: A minor example with adaptations based on the book "Noddy Goes To Toyland" and "Here Comes Noddy Again". In his book debut "Noddy Goes To Toyland", Noddy doesn't wear any clothing until Big Ears has him visit Toytown for the first time. The 1970s adaptation shows Noddy fully clothed minus his hat. A much noteworthy example is episodes that adapted Here Comes Noddy Again where the Goblins only steal Noddy's car and hat (as seen in Toyland Adventures and the 70s series). The original version featured The Golliwogs (later replaced by The Goblins) stealing his car, his blue hat, shoes, trousers, and red shirt.Oh, Crap!: In the Toyland Adventures episode "Noddy and the Treasure Map", Master Tubby asks Noddy if he could hide in his house by claming "He's playing Hide and Seek with me". Unlike his previous encounters with Noddy, Master Tubby is notably on edge due to angering his father.

Gentle Giant: While Mr. Jumbo is one of the biggest citizens of ToyTown. He's a very kindhearted person which is most notable in Make Way For Noddy and Noddy In Toyland. He's a bit moodier in earlier works, though still pretty docile and harmless. Women Are Wiser: Downplayed case. Tessie is often more rational and polite than Noddy, but equally naive. Noddy (voiced by Catherine Disher) is the central character of the animated segments. During the live-action segments in Season 2, he is mostly still, but occasionally wanders around and talks to Truman and often the shop toys. Burke Lawrence as Robbie MacRhino, a mascot dressed as a green rhino in a traditional Scottish kilt. Ascended Extra: She was a minor character in the original books and the 70's series. Beginning in Noddy's Toyland Adventures, she became one of the main characters of the franchise.Bud Topper (played by Neil Crone) is Littleton Falls' second crossing guard. He is a young crossing guard who often gets into practical jokes and hilarious chases around town. He replaced Carl Spiffy, starting with the second-season episode "Little Swap of Horrors".
