About this deal

Heldrake • Stormbird • Thunderhawk • Chaos Storm Eagle • Chaos Fire Raptor • Hell Blade • Hell Talon • Harbinger • Chaos Dreadclaw • Kharybdis Assault Claw • Fire Lord • Doom Wing Flash Outbreak (2 CP) is potentially the most busted Stratagem in the book. You use it in the Command phase to give a single unit in your army all of the contagion abilities that other units have until you next Command phase, and also until then your army counts the battle round as 1 higher for your Contagion abilities. This means you can take a Miasmic Malignifier or Hellblade in an army of Ferrymen, then use this to give them The Droning for a turn with a bonus to their range. On a Hellblade this means you can shoot the unit into the enemy deployment zone, then halve the Movement of all enemy units within 3” for a turn. Just insanely good, potentially going to lead to errata excluding AIRCRAFT from being targets (as they only come from Forge World and may not have been considered).

There are two new units in Codex: Death Guard – The Lord of Virulence and the Miasmic Malignifier . Lord of Virulence Despoiled Ground (Battlefield Supremacy): (end game scoring) This secondary gives you four conditions to score points off of at the end of the game: If you want to build a conventional Death Guard force from here, and play with all of their toys, take a Plagueburst Crawler and a Myphitic Blighthauler daemon engines.

How They Play

On the tabletop, Typhus is a powerful character, combining psychic might and the formidable melee prowess of his Master-Crafted Manreaper. ‘The Destroyer’ Hive penalises enemies that target him or his bodyguard unit with -1 to hit. ‘The Eater Plague’ is a deadly psychic ability that on a 2+ inflicts D6 mortal wounds on an enemy unit, increasing to D3+3 on a roll of 6. The Destroyer Plague and Nurgle’s Rot ravaged them, driving warriors insane and rotting the very souls of the Astartes. Eventually Mortarion, most stoic and indomitable of the Primarchs, succumbed to the only path he could see that would end his sons’ suffering: he pledged them all, body and soul, to Nurgle. Though they often have to wade through barrages of enemy fire, the Death Guard have the fortitude to survive it, and close to killing range with the enemy.

HQ: Lord of Change w/Baleful Sword Exalted (-1 CP), Powers: Infernal Gateway, Bolt of Change, Gaze of Fate Viscous Death (10pts): you can re-roll the number of shots fired by the weapon. Combined with the +1S, near mandatory on your first Foul Blightspawn at the price. These are the light and dark color pairs used for the ampoules, plus gray and white for reflections. I chose all cold shades, which seemed to me more suited to the character, but there are also those who color the ampoules all as if they contained the classic green slime of Nurgle. As always, the choice is up to you. Wargamer Character: The Army Painter brush used in the tutorial

Disgusting Force (1 CP) powers up a Plagueburst Crawler’s shooting, making its mortar 3 damage and causing every unit within 3” of the unit hit by the mortar to take mortal wounds on a 4+.
