Crazy as it may be, Ambre Sultan reminds me of my home country, Croatia. All the signature aromatic smells you would find by exploring the Adriatic coast are here. What an incredibly balanced composition has the dear Solstice bottled for me for Christmas: thank you for that! Labdanum joins them: well fits this slightly herbaceous and own kind of cistus in the previous fragrance weaving, before the balsamic beauties - tolu balsam, styrax and finally vanilla gently sand off any rough edges in the previous creation and round off this yet somewhat idiosyncratic mixture. the year of horror, disbelief, anger, tragedy, and sadness in multitudes: I will leave it at that. What would preoccupy me during all this difficult stuff? Somehow, 2020 was also the year that out of nowhere, I decided, why not buy a few full bottles of some fragrances that I love and appreciate (a few he says, a FEW). I caught the full bottle bug, as it were, and I am just now trying to reign it in—and it hasn't even been a full calendar year!

Surprising! The Confit de Parfum emits an intense scent and boasts a prolonged wear that lasts around six hours on the skin. It fascinates me by an all-embracing rounded smell picture and no single corner, edge or note disturbs me also only a short moment long. He would remember this a few years later in 1980 when he signed a collaboration with Shiseido that would allow this Japanese cosmetics group, hitherto unknown on the international scene, to impose a visual identity so powerful that it would become one of the global market players in the 80s and 90s. A "green" amber, which has a fragrance that is very different from cuddly, warm, soft scents. But sandalwood, delicate honey, labdanum and vanilla flatter together to create a long-lasting fragrance. To individual beastliness. Serge Luten’s fragrance house comes from the old world perfumery which their fragrances reflect. By saying something appreciates and works on values from the last century doesn’t mean their fragrances smell old.

As with all fragrances, you can wear them anywhere, anytime with appropriate applications, so you could also test it by yourself to see where it works best for you. a significant date for Serge Lutens who meets Morocco that year.A revelation! Taken in the crowd and the scents of the old town of Marrakech, Serge discovers by chance during one of his wanderings in the souks, an amber wax. Take your senses on a journey with the Serge Lutens Ambre Sultan Eau de Parfum. Wander through the streets of Marrakech and uncover hidden treasures with this aromatic scent, marking a return to a focus on the identity and authenticity of unique ingredients. Rich and exotic like a fragment of amber resin, the fragrance is not an Oriental, but an Arab and a Lutens. In ideal conditions, I could smell this one even after showering, and the next day. Don’t overspray, and keep the number of applications to a lower level since the initial projection, and sillage can get the wrong kind of attention from your coworkers or new people you meet. Ambre Sultan will never not smell glorious to me, though. The love child of a Christmas tree and a lump of cassonade, it smells like a golden resin melting down on your skin on a hot day, then hardening again like a layer of shellac. It is light and dark all at once, its breathy presence one of dusty books, sunlit herbs, burnt incense, and polished wood.

Here, too, is rather resorted to a slightly matte gold variant; so much more appropriate, as bright glow and radiance. Maison Francis Kurkdjian Grand Soir – an amber fragrance released in 2016. The main notes include amber, Siam benzoin, and vanilla. Living in a Mediterranean country and being surrounded by those aromatic herbs which are often used in meals in this part of the world reminded me of the Dalmatian coast but without the signature pine tree scents which also grow there. What are your thoughts about Serge Lutens Ambre Sultan ? Have you tried it? Do you like it?Let’s start a conversation and let me know in the comment section below. As if I were in a "compartment of fragrances", in which I can stay for several hours and feel good.A nice twist is the heavier notes and accords coming from amber, benzoin, labdanum, and other balms and resins.

My “starter” amber fragrance was the easy-to-wear L’Eau Ambrée by Prada. With mandarin, rose, and jasmine to sweeten the way, I happily wore it until the patchouli drydown started to grate on me. I graduated to the warm and beautiful L’Ambre des Merveilles by Hermès, and its sweet caramel vanilla seems perfect for the cooler months. It reminds me of Prada Candy, but I much prefer its greater complexity. Every September I reach for the stunning starry bottle turned on its side.Because also the durability fits excellently with everything so far; everything develops comfortably; not obtrusive, quite noble and comfortable.

For lovers of resinous, spicy, and quality amber perfumes, skip all other more hyped perfumes, and get this Serge Lutens first. You will be pleasantly surprised. To my nose, the time the scent starts to meld into the heart notes, the scent experience is more of an aged oak barrel containing fine Scottish whiskey, and that is coming from the cistus note that comes from the same plant as labdanum. Flemish artists render the amber shades exceptionally well, hence two still lifes to accompany today’s post. The first one is by Osias Beert The Elder (1580 – 1623/24). The second is by Peter Boel (1622-1674). We crossed Borneo, Kalimantan and Saravak and went to visit Brunei. With the sultan. Perhaps the richest man in the world One must be aware that this type of fragrance will wear you if you don’t find it comfortable while wearing it. The scent that brings out attention, and is one of those “ you know who is the boss” types of fragrances. The heavy Amber plays a big role here and combines excellently with the slightly chocolate-spotted benzoin - a classic mixture with which you can't do much wrong in principle, because it's cuddly and round. Tom Ford Amber Absolute – an amber fragrance released in 2007. The main notes include amber, incense, and vanilla. The lasting power is 24+ hours with great projection. The one-to-one replica of these herbs is magnificent and doesn’t come as medicinal at all as it can be in other green perfumes.
