About this deal

Overall, I think the Maxfli Tour is exactly what it claims to be from a spin perspective. You are going to get low spin from the tee, mid spin on the approach, and then an average to high spin around the greens. Distance

The Maxfli Tour X is a four-piece golf ball. With the 2021 Tour X, Maxfli shifted from dual-core to dual-mantel construction. The design carries through with the 2023 Tour X.

Golf Balls

Bridgestone are notorious for producing quality golf balls, their Tour B X golf balls definitely boost their reputation for making excellent golf balls. The Tour B X golf balls appeal to a wide range of golfers - from the big hitters to the short game specialists. Being the highest-compression golf ball in their Tour B range with a 94 compression rating this is the most represented of Bridgestone's golf balls on Tour. Most notably, Tour B X golf balls are in the bags of former World No.1 Jason Day and nine-time PGA Tour winner Matt Kuchar. The Tour golf balls are available in white and yellow. The balls are traditionally numbered from 1 to 4.

If you are looking for a ball which flies low and offers less spin than the other Tour range golf balls the Maxfli Tour S is the ball you most likely need. The Tour S is a 3-piece urethane cover construction golf ball which provides the softest feel of all the Maxfli Tour range golf balls. Also, this ball is ideal for links golf and windy conditions. TaylorMade are one of the several brands to make a golf ball which feels as good as a tour standard golf ball but plays better for the majority of amateur golfers who swing the club slower and do not quite generate enough power to play with higher compression golf balls. That being said, the Tour Response is an exceptional golf ball for even the best amateur golfers. I personally play with the Tour Response Stripe with the 360° clearpath alignment as a visual aid and also an alignment aid to help with putting. Being premium golf balls, you are guaranteed fantastic performance from the TaylorMade TP5x. They behave very well from tee to green but you really get your money's worth off the tee - not just with distance but also dispersion. If you prefer a more vivid golf ball that assists with alignment, there is the Pix option in the TP5 and TP5x.The market for these golf balls with a tour performance at a lower price is continuously increasing but the Titleist Tour Speed is rightfully very strong in this market. Tour Speed is a great all-round golf ball which does perform slightly better in the long game than the short game but that is not to say this ball cannot hold its own around the green. In some respects, the 2023 Maxfli Tour X is a textbook example of both the good and bad that can be part of the Foremost story. The spin on the approach shots is not great. I hit a few really good shots that didn’t spin as much as I had hoped for them, too; this was even the case on the 100 yards and in shots. In fact, it gave me little hope for greenside spin. Sporting very similar technology to the Srixon Q-Star Tour (Srixon's model above this one) it is clear to see why this is one of the most popular golf balls for high handicappers. The main difference between this ball and the next model up is this one has an ionomer cover and is only a two-piece ball. However, that does not make this ball inferior. Designed for people with a similar swing speed to the higher model, this is an impressive golf ball at a lower price - which will suit higher handicappers because it is not as expensive when inevitably lost. The putting green is my favorite place to test to see if I enjoy the feel of a golf ball. With the Maxfli Tour, I really liked the feel on the putting green. The ball came off just a little firm, but it held its line well and helped me get my distance control down during my round. Spin Srixon manufactures a whole range of quality golf equipment, but it is perhaps their golf balls that give them the most notoriety. More specifically, their amateur-level golf balls. Although, their premium range of golf balls should not be overlooked. The Z-Star range definitely rivals the best premium golf balls. Not only is the Z-Star range represented on Tour, but it also has three major championships to boot (Shane Lowry 2019 Open - Z-Star XV, Hideki Matsyuma 2021 Masters - Z-Star XV, and Brooke Koepka 2023 PGA Championship - Z-Star Diamond) Compared to the Maxfli Tour, the Tour X is slightly higher-spinning with a higher ball flight. The challenge Maxfli’s ball development team faced with the 2023 Tour X is one faced by the rest of the industry as well. Chiefly, “Can we get a little more distance without sacrificing any greenside spin?” As you’ll see below, our sample had some compression inconsistency. Individual balls measured as high as 107. Assuming we’re not the only ones to find especially firm balls in our sample, it certainly would explain why some have said the ball feels excessively firm compared to the prior version. The Maxfli Tour X golf balls provide low spin off the tee and high spin on approach shots.

Anecdotally, our DMs and social media mentions suggest plenty of golfers seem eager to see how it fares in the MyGolfSpy Ball Lab. TBD on all of that. The Tetrahedron dimple pattern is designed to optimize ball flight aerodynamics, increasing overall distance and improving the golf ball’s stability while in the air. Although the dimple pattern is unique, it doesn’t stand out as anything that looks glaringly different when looking down at the golf ball. In this section, we detail the consistency of the Maxfli Tour X. Our consistency metrics provide a measure of how similar the balls in our sample were to one another relative to all of the models we’ve tested to date. Weight Consistency Urethane-covered balls offer the best spin control and feel but do cost more. Experiment with each to see if you notice enough of a difference to justify the extra cost, or whether the best mid-price golf balls might be an option.

The 2021 Maxfli Tour belongs in the conversation with the leading direct-to-consumer balls on the market. Moreover, it’s fair to suggest that Maxfli produces some of the most consistent balls on the market without a Titleist logo. The Tour S golf balls are available in white and yellow. The balls are traditionally numbered from 1 to 4. Titleist have been manufacturing iterations of the Pro V1 since the early 2000s and over time they have continuously increased in popularity - both on Tour and in the amateur game. Alongside the Titleist Pro V1x, both balls have amassed over 3000 Tour victories, making them the most successful golf balls in the professional game. From the Pro V1 golf balls, you get a reliable flight and ultimately a ball you can trust to perform well from tee to green. The Maxfli Tour has plenty of carry distance from the tee. One of the things I always look for is whether or not it can carry this dog leg on my home course, as I know a golf ball needs a certain amount of distance to make it. Having worked in golf retail for seven years he has all the skills and knowledge necessary to review and recommend the perfect equipment for golfers of all abilities and has a strong knowledge of putters, golf balls, and golf apparel, including trousers. The sound is great, I won’t tell you that it feels as buttery as an old Balata ball from Maxfli, but the ball feels strong coming off the clubface and as though it has quite a bit of speed. The Maxfli Tour golf ball gets a 9.3/10. Overall you won’t find too much to complain about with this golf ball in play. My favorite use case for the Maxfli Tour is a player who has been playing with cheap golf balls and is looking to find something with performance without breaking the bank. The takeaway for golfers should be that in a market that is increasingly flooded with direct-to-consumer options, Maxfli has earned its place at the front of that line. However, because we haven’t thoroughly tested the 2023 offerings, it would be premature to make any claims regarding the performance or production consistency of this line. That said, I fully expect Maxfli to maintain its position. The Tour X does, however, utilize a urethane cover to provide ample control from 100 yards but it does feel firmer than the Tour. The X model also features center of gravity balancing to ensure optimal performance and it is available in Gloss White and Matte White colors. It offers exceptional performance at a price point that makes it a fantastic option for any golfer aspiring to play a tour quality golf ball. Having tested these balls on the course, we found the Tour X excelled the most in its long game distance.
