External blinds are fixed on the outside of the glazing and provide the maximum cooling effect in comparison to the internal blinds which are attached to the inside. All of them are the great ways to shade a greenhouse, but, first, I would like to the start with the shade paint. 1. Greenhouse Shade Paint I found two very good shading blinds options available in the UK. The first one is Roller Shading Blinds by Eden. It bis easier to remove in Autumn if you apply the cool-shade on the inside. For years I have struggled to clean the high apex from the outside!

Shading can consist of internal or external blinds for your greenhouse, or less expensive mesh which is pegged into place. Positioned outside, the shading will prevent heat being generated by passing through the glass but can be difficult to fit and maintain. From 1st January 2021, due to new regulations introduced as a result of the UK's exit from the EU, we very much regret that we are unable to deliver plants out-with the UK. I recommend to paint your greenhouse glazing in the late March and wipe it off in October to protect your plants from the damaging sun rays. So when buying a greenhouse, make sure there are enough vents (both roof and louvres) and be careful not to underestimate the number of vents even a small greenhouse requires as these have more glazing in relation to floor area than larger greenhouses. Roof and Side Vents Suitable for use on greenhouses; lean-tos and conservatoriesVitax Summer Cloud Greenhouse Shading 500ml offers an easy to apply protection for the summer sun Stays on in wind and rainIf you have read my previous post on the greenhouse cooling, you know that shade cloth is my favorite type of shading. It can be applied anywhere in the greenhouse with the suction cups. Another option is Robinsons Internal Roof Shading Blinds which are designed to fit one section of the 2ft wide glass pane. So, today I want to talk about different ways of shading a greenhouse and which one is the most suitable for you. The cheapest method I have found is to use Coolglass a powder you mix into a suspension and paint or spray on.

Third, it is easy to set up and is as easy to take it down when you need to let more sunlight in. Also, it is very easy to clean with some water and mild detergent. It makes more sense to invest into something more permanent like blinds or a cloth. 2. Greenhouse Shading blinds Plants, like humans, wilt in the heat, they need shade, water, and cooling air circulation. Few will survive in a greenhouse with a temperature of over 80°F/27ºC. All greenhouses should be fitted with one or more roof vents. For every 50 sq ft of floor area, you should have 10 sq ft of roof ventilation, this will provide a regular cooling change of air within the greenhouse. Also, you can easily wipe it off with a duster. You can use a shade paint on different types of glazing like glass, polycarbonate or plastic.

Whether to leave vents fully or partially open overnight will depend on how much the temperature drops, and if the weather is changeable you may have to leave vents partially open. Automatic Vents Greenhouse Shading is essential during the summer months - even during a British summer, the sun is able to increase temperatures within the greenhouse to such an extent that plants can be damaged - a surprising amount of damage from overheating and scorching can be done to your plants in a very short period of time. Greenhouse with white surfaces will reflect sunlight rather than absorb it. That is why I really like the shade paint. The excess of light is as damaging as it’s deficiency. To control the amount of light penetrating through a greenhouse glazing you need some sort of a shading. Don’t want to spend a lot of cash on shading blinds? Then I have an option for you too – a shade cloth! 3. Greenhouse Shade Cloth
