Description

You continue playing this way until you have fought the third villain at the end of the eighth round. You then tally up your points (villains defeated, monsters defeated, gems collected, party level, magical items, objective card and your personal goal. Theme, setting & narrative There’s a lot to like about this game, not least that it plays really well solo. The variation with each new game works nicely too –because, with 12 different maps to use, and with monsters of different weaknesses, by the time you’ve done, you’re on a new tactic for the repeat. This time round, perhaps your additional power card sees you prioritise gems rather than potions, fights rather than rooms, and the like. Whilst yes, the ultimate outcome of a solo game is a point scoring exercise (which often is met with disdain, though it works really well here, and of which in a multiplayer game would merely rank the winners), your victory is not just in your glory points, but in having survived the ordeal in the first place. Your character doesn't reset at each new dungeon and keeps leveling up until you meet your demise. What will remain is your name in the Hall of Fame and more powerful sets of dice that you can use in your next Rogue run. Il était annoncé (article de Laurent), il était attendu par la communauté des ludistes fans de Roll&Write… Il est arrivé et … il n’a pas déçu ! In a board game genre I’m rapidly getting saturated with, Paper Dungeons stands out with a casual look at a done-to-death theme and fun mechanisms that lend themselves to a little strategy and some interesting decisions. Some games don’t need much more than that, or they risk overshooting their mark – which is why Hadrian’s Wall left my collection, but I’m happily keeping Paper Dungeons.L'interactivité est toute relative car elle n'est présente que sur la récupération des gemmes. Premier arrivé, premier servi. Mais, l'équipe Super Meeple a publié trois variantes pour augmenter l'interactivité. Vous pouvez la trouver dams la règle sur cette fiche.

Paper Dungeons is a fantasy board-game boosted by online content. With the ability to create and share online your own levels, you are up for an infinite replay value! The game is visualized as a classic tabletop board-game with dice and tokens. You can destroy walls and auto-heal as you uncover new dungeon tiles, which widens your choice of moves. Game Modes This new mode allows you to play a fully-fledged adventure with up to 10 dungeons linked together by an introduction, dialogs between dungeons and a conclusion. Your character doesn't reset and keeps his inventory between dungeons. Inspired by classic fantasy RPGs such as Dungeons & Dragons and Pathfinder, Paper Dungeons is a game about exploring dark places and finding treasure. A game for one to eight players, Paper Dungeons challenges players to command their very own party of adventures through perilous ruins to gather enough glory to swipe victory from their rivals. Can your team of adventurers find the treasures in the dungeon while defeating minions and monsters alike? In Paper Dungeons, you use the results of die rolls to traverse a dungeon with your ever-levelling party. Draw your own path to fame in Paper Dungeons! How the game works And, of course, there are the villains. Provided you have come across their lair during the previous turn, at the end of the third/sixth/eighth round, you encounter the first/second/third villain. Counting up your total party strength, each villain has three thresholds you can achieve. You score points for the highest one you can best, but that usually comes with some wounds. At the end of the battle, each villain will remove a gem from the map.

Ma si sente l’ambientazione?

You also draw three mission cards for you to achieve, two power cards (keep one) that give you a special skill, and two objective cards (keep one) that not only give you a personal goal but also determine the alignment of your four party members – your warrior, wizard, cleric and rogue.

In the first expansion for Paper Dungeons each player will continue to search for glory and power, in new and more dangerous dungeons. The deadliest traps, the most deadly Lieutenants, the strongest bosses, will be present in the new adventures. Side quests will motivate even more divergent paths, and powerful new artefacts will help your party defeat all dangers and monsters. I was looking forward to playing the campaign (it’s a dungeon scrawler after all) but after the fourth or fifth mission I realised there was little beyond flavour text linking the missions together. This minor flaw, the game stands alone in its own right, is compounded by the fact that monsters don’t change in strength. Dungeon A of the campaign feels just as easy/hard as Dungeon L. There doesn’t appear to be any progression beyond a cards-worth of story. Each dungeon and monster are too similar in feel if not aesthetic. This is partially mitigated by the objective, missions and power cards. If I were being particularly critical, I’d say the rulebook did no favours for beginners, as tested on my gaming group novice, but if you’ve played roll and writes of any particular complexity previously, you should be fine. Taking that away, I’d say this adventure is one you’ll want to embark on. My top tips for getting a big score, move lots, have plenty of potions and look for combos. As you can see this is a fairly simple roll-n-write but with an applied theme that is far more successful than others of this ilk and heft, e.g. Welcome To or 30 Rails. This expansion brings new elements to increase the difficulty of the game, using a new dungeon sheet, presenting new and more difficult challenges.

If you remember those of you who follow the news more often, the first expansion was originally going to be called The Long Night, but it seems that they have been working so hard on the expansion that they have even changed the name.
