This Colleen Hoover series is a powerful and emotionally charged duology that explores the intricacies of first love, along with the complexities of relationships and the strength to break painful cycles. I hated that you did it anyway, knowing you wouldn’t be the only one who died. I was so mad because you let me die, too. Once again, a reader could highlight a majority of the book seeing as Colleen Hoover is a brilliant weaver of words. Don't hate me, but I gave up on two popular books that came out with alternate pov of the same stories. That being said, this is definitely worth the read and I have no regrets. Losing Hope was a book I told myself at the beginning of 2015 that I would read this year. I just didn't realize I'd wait until the year was finally over to read it. But New Year's Resolution partially accomplished! Got a few more books to read to do so.

Holder's life was never easy. For years he had been accusing himself for Hope's missing but it wasn’t his fault. He was a protective brother and he loved a lot his sister. He always knew that something was off with her as she was spending nights crying in his arms but he did his best to be there and strong for her. However she managed to break him with a selfish decision that she took. She left him alone and hopeless. Merit Voss collects trophies she hasn’t earned and secrets her family forces her to keep. While browsing the local antiques shop for her next trophy, she finds Sagan. His wit and unapologetic idealism disarm and spark renewed life into her—until she discovers that he’s completely unavailable. Merit retreats deeper into herself, watching her family from the sidelines, when she learns a secret that no trophy in the world can fix. Sky and Holder are initially drawn together by lust and a mutual fascination with one another, but Holder’s mood swings and mixed signals soon begin to confuse Sky. As the skeletons begin to come out of each of their closets, both the past and present become much clearer for this young couple. Before her first day, however, she meets Holder, a fellow senior who’s been “away” the last year after an altercation at school. Both are captivated by each other after their first meeting – he feels like he recognizes her, and she catches feelings like she’s never felt before with a guy.

Multibuys

I’m scared if I kiss her too soon, it’ll feel like every other kiss she’s ever received. She’ll feel nothing. I don’t want her to feel nothing when I kiss her. I want her to feel everything.” The only person who hasn’t closed the door on her completely is Ledger Ward, a local bar owner and one of the few remaining links to Kenna’s daughter. But if anyone were to discover how Ledger is slowly becoming an important part of Kenna’s life, both would risk losing the trust of everyone important to them.

I'll be lying if I said this book wasn't the one I was most looking forward to reading this year. It was. And I'm so grateful I got to read this ARC before it was released because I'm sure the wait would have been absolute torture. My expectations were high, and well, this is Colleen Hoover we are talking about, so I wasn't the least worried. What follows is an emotional journey in which Holder has to decide whether Sky should know the truth about what happend all those years ago or if she's better off without those memories of the past. And if she does find out the truth, how I'll it effect her relationship with Holder? In Losing Hope we find out how Holder struggles with knowing the truth but being unable to confide in anyone about it. It's not an easy journey, but we all know that eventually they do get their much deserved happy ending. UtopYA Awards Winners Announced". My Bookopolis. Archived from the original on June 28, 2014 . Retrieved July 10, 2014. Colleen Hoover can do no wrong in my book. I've read and loved each and every single one of her books and they were all brilliant, and Losing Hope was no exception. Hopeless was one of my favorite books of 2012 and reading the story again from Holder's POV made me exactly remember why.

The book starts right before Les, Holder's twin sister, makes a decision that will shatter Holder and his family's life, again. He is the boy who lost Hope and he could never recover himself from that, and now, he is completely broken. These scenes brought to me so many tears. We dont get all the details from Sky's POV and I was so surprised with a few revelations. He is not sure if she is his friend but he has to know her, be with her.As it seems they have many things in common and these two are simply the best book couple ever!I laughed a lot with their sarcasm but mostly I loved being in his head.Ughh I remember reading somewhere that he is just a horny teen. Well yeah what do you expect? He's a guy and of course his only purpose was to tease her to hell and have naughty thoughts.I'm glad that Holder is not the perfect guy who would do this skinny love thing. He is outspoken and arrogant. Those of you who have read Hopeless you pretty much know what the story is about and well, why read this book then if all the mistery has been revealed? Let me tell you that there is SO much more to know. This boy/man can still surprise us and melt our hearts. Reading this story again from Holder's POV is a gift and being inside his head is a privilege.I realize it's a challenge to write a companion story that "flips the script" or tells a variant version of a same story, but usually the strength in being able to tell an alternate story is to offer new grounds of intrigue and insight specific to the character you're writing the perspective point in. I'll admit there was some potential with that considering Holder reflects on his sister's death and has to deal with the rumors about his person and his own family issues, but I'll admit in the whole time that I followed Holder in this, it was like reading someone's account at arms length and the major measures that shaped him were only with respect to Les's death and Hope's disappearance. Not to mention that I don't think there was anything that new added to the cast at large in this account - the characters had very little dimensions and connectivity, and the mystery was not so much compelling as the first account because you already know what happens in so many measures. Plus, there were some revelations given here that I had a very hard time believing, much like in the first book. Holder still hasn’t forgiven himself from walking away from Hope thirteen years ago. And with Les’ death, he isn’t the same person her used to be. Enter persistent Daniel. He goes on a one-man mission to get information for Six and show her that their son is happy and healthy with his new parents.
