Sadly, the move to Wear OS isn’t altogether a resounding success. You’d hope that a Samsung watch powered by Wear OS would enable faster, easier setup on any Android device, but that’s simply not the case. On the contrary, you still need to install a whole host of Samsung apps on your Android phone to use the Galaxy Watch 4, including Galaxy Wearable, Samsung Health and Samsung Pay. Then the calendar app. On the Gear S3, it is my second used app. I swipe over one to see the month at a glance. Now only 5 days are showing. I have to make 3 swipes to get to the whole calendar. that is, or may reasonably be considered to be, defamatory, libelous, hateful, racially or religiously biased or offensive, unlawfully threatening or unlawfully harassing to any person or entity; It doesn't look like many compatible apps either. I found American Airlines, but Delta or others are absent... and I travel a lot. Disappointing. After waiting all this time, I'd expect some major upgrades. Still waiting. All of this leaves the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic in a rather peculiar position, which is a shame for a device that offers such excellent performance in many respects. The former offers better scratch resistance, and was perhaps included to match with the sporty nature of the Galaxy Watch 4, which could mean it’s more likely to get scuffed. Specs and features The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic’s battery life is, without a shadow of a doubt, its worst feature. While the standard model lasts about two days between charges, based on our review time, in our testing we’d estimate that the Classic lasts less than a single day before running out of charge. The battery size is also the same, though differs between the small and large versions of each watch. The small version of each has a 247mAh battery, while the large model has a 361mAh one.
Swiping up from the bottom brings up the app menu, and swiping in from left lets you navigate between the tiles – you probably won’t find yourself doing this one much though, as you can do the same thing with the rotating bezel. I wish the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 battery life was more consistent, though. I found some days the watch needed to be charged more often than 24 hours. Galaxy Watch4 Classic has a water resistance rating of 50 meters under the ISO standard 22810:2010. It is not suitable for diving or high-pressure water activities. If the device or your hands are wet, they must be dried thoroughly prior to handling.
You might assume that because the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic is bigger it also has a bigger screen, but you’d assume wrong. As noted, that extra size seems to be down to the bezel and general design, while the screen itself is actually the same size on both models. The snoring measurement requires smartphone with Android 6.0 or later, 1.5GB of RAM, phone within 2 feet of user, with snore detection enabled through Samsung Health app version 6.18 or higher. But sometimes, when you make many changes at once, there's more chances for individual changes to fall short. The battery life could be more consistent, and Wear OS is missing some key features at launch. I'm also hesitant to celebrate the benefits of wrist-based body composition analysis for the number of people the feature might be unsafe for.

I'm a quiet sleeper, but I do often wake up for an hour at a time in the early morning. In these instances, the Galaxy Watch 4 would record two separate sleeps, but show me the total time asleep in the morning recap. Unlike on most other watches, where you can adjust the angle of the strap relative to the body, on the Watch 4 Classic, the straps can only protrude perpendicularly from the sides of the body, which results in a sizable gap between the strap and your wrist on either side of the body; you can see this issue in the image of the standard Watch 4 below – and we'd consider our wrists to be pretty average-sized. The headline here is that the Galaxy Watch 4 employs Google’s Wear OS software in place of Samsung’s own Tizen OS, but this isn’t Wear OS as you might know it. In fact, this “powered by Samsung” version feels quite different to Wear OS on other Google-based smartwatches. The default setting for snoring detection is off. Users can turn the setting on through their smartphone at anytime using the Samsung Health App 6.18 version or above. Consistent with IPX8 rating, water resistant in up to 5 feet of water for up to 30 minutes. Rinse residue/dry after wet.
