About this deal

Yes, the vanilla is dry and powdery and doesn’t go into the typical sweet oriental base as many other amber scents do.

Nearly 3 decades after its creation, “Ambre sultan” has lost none of its power, splendor, and racy character. It remains one of the most beautiful testimonies ever given to Arab culture and its history.” Notes and Classification Amber is a widely used scent in the perfume industry, and many people are enamored by its luxurious fragrance. This scent will work well with a variety of others; you will likely notice that it is used in many of your favorite scents. Serge Lutens Ambre Sultan is marketed as a unisex perfume, and I wholeheartedly agree with this choice. Mature scent DNA, but also wearable for anyone younger than 30 with an acquired taste. And, while I adore the amber superstars like Maison Francis Kurkdjian’s Grand Soir, Profumum Roma Abra Aurea, and Tom Ford’s Amber Absolute, now I see where the inspiration came from. Despite the price (around 14€ for a 30ml bottle), this is a long-lived fragrance on my skin with more than decent projection. It has a gourmand side but feels more like a sweet oriental with milky shades. The musk is evident and it explodes like a cloud of radiant sweet carnal notes. Despite being sweet and ambery, Amber Romance is a good summer fragrance due to a strange effect brought by an aquatic note that does not spoil the character of the composition but prevents it from being heavy. Even the body lotion is rich and highly perfumed so when used in complement it will make you smell good, sexy and yummy for a whole day, filling the room with resinous candied whiffs of desire. It's arguably the best scent I have ever smelled from Victoria's Secret.

In my recent article about the best niche perfume brands, Serge Lutens ended up taking fifth place above such as Frederic Malle, Nishane, Xerjoff, and others. Serge Lutens History Amber is one of the most highly-prized perfume ingredients in the world and is also one of the most complex to obtain. It is luxurious and seductive but perhaps not as distinct as one might first believe. Amber is often used as a base note to support other scents, but its warm, spicy aroma cannot be mistaken.

Since it’s trying to replicate Serge Luten’s trip to Morocco, and the forgotten wooden box containing the amber resin, the scent will work best for occasional wear during the colder months of the fall and winter. While ambergris once graced the base note of several eau de parfums, scarcity and environmental concerns have pushed the perfumers to tread towards a synthesized form. Nevertheless, the hints of rich amber or the scent of ambergris continue to play a crucial role in crafting quality perfumes—an enigmatic whisper that lasts longer than most love affairs! Why does amber smell good? When you look at the bottle of this perfume, you are reminded of a beautiful Arabian princess; it just feels regal and classy. The Oriental Floral fragrance was released in 2018 and offers something that cannot be found elsewhere. So, before you go telling others that Amber and Ambergris are from the same family tree, let’s clear the air. Amber is not the same as ambergris. One is a resin, the other a path less traveled, aged by the tumultuous waves. But when orchestrated by a skilled perfumer, they both compose a fragrance that lingers, with a resonance that might score a symphony of memories and moods. As a healing stone and as a scent, amber is known to have a lot of lucrative properties. It has long been used to relieve stress and clear the mind, making it an ideal scent for meditation. It is also known to increase libido and improve circulation, keeping the heart healthy. Amber has also been widely used in aromatherapy and medicine to heal pain and soothe inflammation. It is particularly effective at easing the symptoms of respiratory conditions. Perfumer Anya McCoy says: "I have used ambergris in many of my perfumes. I have some tinctures that are eight years old. The scent of ambergris varies according to the type it is, as there are many grades with different scents. Mostly it is described as marine, hay, slightly fecal, warm, creamy. And the scent of it is only part of the equation: more important is the transformative properties it brings to the perfume formula. It 'marries' and exalts the other aromatics in a way no other substance does. The ambergris doesn't even have to be perceptible in the perfume. " Most commonly, ambroxan is used to recreate the rich and sweet aroma of amber. This synthetic method might also combine various other scents to make something reminiscent of amber. These might include vanilla, patchouli, labdanum, or benzoin. In case you are in doubt about whether you should consider buying this fragrance or not, it’s always good to take a look at Scent Grail’s S.P.A. Signature Factor Guide.
