I definitely have found myself in several of her situations, so I couldn’t help but root for her to find her way back to herself in spite of her crappy ex-husband. He turns your world upside down and if he would ask you to follow him to the end of the world, you would not hesitate one single moment.

Made me scream with laughter… There are no words to adequately describe how much I adored this book… I read the entire story in one sitting. My thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a free ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. It’s not always easy to do so, but trying to change someone’s mind or pressure them into making a different choice seldom does anything but push them even further away.Divorces are always painful, and even more so when you’re an expat and don’t have your family and friends around to support you through this difficult time. Not to mention, she's treading water in a dead-end job, her know-it-all therapist gives her advice she doesn't ask for, and the men she is surrounded by are, to be polite, subpar.

It’s run by the incredibly tidy and efficient Monica, who furtively adds her own entry and leaves the book in the wine bar across the street. Her biological clock is ticking and when she discovers that her husband is cheating on her, she has some serious decisions to make. Without getting into it very much, Ranald shows a great case of gaslighting and I wish had spelled things out in those terms so that Sloane could have had a conversation with herself about that. Yes, I sympathized with Sloane but on the other hand I simply wanted to shake her and tell her to see things how they really are.I can imagine that for some it can be a realistic, relatable story, as it thoroughly describes all the ups and downs (are there ups at all? SIMPLY BRILLIANT… I finished the book at 3:40 am an

I did like Sloane, but thought that a lot of her personal history should have been thought on more for also how she reacted to what was going on with her and Myles. It was extremely slow, paid way more attention to the main character’s work life, and was VERY generic. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. She was successful, ambitious, happy, just on the cusp of graduating from university and claiming the future she’d always dreamed of. I don't see myself as something who hardly judges and yet that was exactly what I did here, only because I felt somehow displeased and didn't even left out space to consider other ways to look at things. But what starts as a personal and professional nightmare transforms into something even savvy, cynical Liv Goldenhorn couldn’t begin to imagine. The cult took her all over the globe - to Germany, Japan, Texas, Chile - but it wasn't until she finally left for good that Lauren understood she could have a life beyond "The Family.
