Description

Painter (Betting on You) delivers a charmer of a rom-com with this lively tale of professional wedding objectors. definitely begins to blur the lines and the effortless chemistry from their one night together resurfaces (or can no longer be ignored).

regardless, this was immediately girl hatey, in an insane, like, 2000s level, toward not one but two women! the only other two women, in fact, who exist in the first chapter at all and aren't our protagonist. Despite this, I loved the story overall, and I thought this was even better than the first book in the series! jack was just so incredibly bitchy and i couldn’t help but roll my eyes each and every time he was mentioned.

Hallie and Jack both start developing feelings for each other but what is the best course of action? Jack Marshall has a crisis about his love life after the playboy uncle he’s always idolized dies alone, leading Jack to cling to his own toxic relationship. Wing-manning for each other over a series of disastrous dates brings them closer—so close that when Hallie needs a date for her own sister’s wedding, Jack steps in to play her fake boyfriend. My last complaint is how these two numb nuts were always banging on about being besties and not wanting to date when: 1) you've legit known each other for two moon cycles. i hope my pain and suffering brought you some sort of humour, i’ll be here all evening tearing this book to shreds.

Special thanks to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing for sharing this enjoyable digital reviewer copy with me in exchange my honest thoughts. Their banter is laugh out loud funny, their friendship is genuinely charming and sweet, and their chemistry is *ooo la la! When Hallie goes to the app to find someone, she finds Jack, the man with who she spent a one-night stand that made up her mind to change herself.which is probably because i saw the characters as real people, with genuine feelings, rather than romance caricatures.

The book is dual POV, which usually I like, but in this case, we are flipping back and forth multiple times in the same chapter, sometimes after only a couple paragraphs, which is extremely disorienting and lazy. But when she begins to scroll, one of the first names appears on her screen is Jack: her steamy one night stand. Two people make a wager on who can find love first, not realizing what they should be betting on is each other, in this new romantic comedy by Lynn Painter, New York Times bestselling author of Mr. hallie piper was just as bad– somebody needed to yell at hallie kenji kishimoto style and tell her to grow the fuck up. She is a community columnist for the Omaha World-Herald, as well as a regular blogger for their parenting section.Hallie's POV doesn't start off much better: she gets mad at Jack for asking her manager if she can work a bar in the back and accuses him of being blatantly sexist.
