YOu ccould use the story for inspiration to create a Toy Fact File using one of the characters from this EYFS/KS1 picture book. When it arrived and I read it I wasn't that impressed by the story, I thought it might be more exciting! In a geography lesson, a mapping lesson could be linked to the story of Buntings experience in following the clues the toys leave to lead him to their location. Before you begin reading the story there is a page containing illustrations of all that characters and their names.

His stories are a mix of fairytale and autobiography, and his aim in all his work is to communicate his belief that the world is a magical place. The children will explore the box and make simple sentences to describe some of the toys inside the box. You've probably heard of, or maybe even watched, the film Night At The Museum, starring (amongst others) Ben Stiller, Robin Williams and Dick Van Dyke, which told the story of a poor museum guard trying to keep control of a whole host of museum exhibits that come to life at night-time. Until one night the toys decide to play a game of hide and seek with him and he sets off on his own adventure to find them. I personally would use it as a topic book for whole class use, and perhaps be able to use it within guided reading for the lower ability groups to take a closer look and discuss it further.

The story is about how the toys in the museum come to life at night and decide to play hide and seek.

One night they decide to run away from the main character, who is not quite sure what is going on, as he think that all the toys have gotten lost. It also is a good book to look at character development in literacy and what toy would a child pick to come to life and what would their personality be.Albania, Algeria, American Samoa, Andorra, Angola, Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Armenia, Aruba, Australia, Bahamas, Bahrain, Barbados, Belgium, Belize, Benin, Bermuda, Bhutan, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Botswana, Brazil, British Virgin Islands, Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cambodia, Cameroon, Canada, Cape Verde Islands, Cayman Islands, Central African Republic, Chad, Chile, China, Colombia, Comoros, Cook Islands, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast), Democratic Republic of the Congo, Denmark, Djibouti, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Estonia, Ethiopia, European Union, Falkland Islands (Islas Malvinas), Finland, France, French Guiana, French Polynesia, Gabon Republic, Gambia, Ghana, Gibraltar, Greece, Greenland, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Guam, Guatemala, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Jordan, Kenya, Kiribati, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Latvia, Lebanon, Lesotho, Liberia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macau, Macedonia, Madagascar, Malawi, Malaysia, Mali, Malta, Marshall Islands, Martinique, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mayotte, Mexico, Micronesia, Moldova, Monaco, Mongolia, Montenegro, Montserrat, Morocco, Namibia, Nepal, Netherlands, Netherlands Antilles, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Niger, Niue, Norway, Oman, Pakistan, Palau, Panama, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Qatar, Republic of Croatia, Republic of the Congo, Reunion, Romania, Saint Helena, Saint Kitts-Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Serbia, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Solomon Islands, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sri Lanka, Suriname, Svalbard and Jan Mayen, Swaziland, Sweden, Taiwan, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Thailand, Togo, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Tunisia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Turks and Caicos Islands, Tuvalu, Uganda, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Uzbekistan, Vanuatu, Vatican City State, Venezuela, Virgin Islands (U. The children can make toys based on some of the characters in the book and help them recreate the stories and even build new ones. The children have been sequencing the story, retelling the story and explaining how specific characters feel.

The illustrations and names of the toys could be useful in a phonics lesson as alliteration is used by Lucas regularly and the fun aspect of the story would bring enjoyment to the learning experience. Seller has stated it will dispatch the item within 1 working day upon receipt of cleared payment - opens in a new window or tab . As a child he enjoyed drawing and writing, and he went on to study at St Martin’s School of Art and then the Royal College of Art. The children have fully immersed themselves in the story linking to aspects of our trip to Abbey House Museum. Lost in the Toy Museum: An Adventure by David Lucas is a delightful story perfect to use alongside Twinkl primary resources when teaching and learning about toys in KS1.

Bunting, the old toy cat, has appointed himself the leader and has them lining up for inspection, checking their stitching and getting them to do exercises. I think it is a very suitable book for primary school children in East London as it’s based on the author’s memories from Bethnal Green, that alone I would imagine would be of interest to children.
