About this deal

I believed I was ticking the boxes of being a Good Person by being kind, generous, hardworking, conscientious, loving, eager to help, attractive, and intelligent, and doing what others needed and wanted. They tell people what they think they want to hear, and they say yes when they really mean no, or say yes without considering the impact, meaning, and consequences. I share everything I’ve learned in this book, including how to say no without terrifying yourself or cutting everyone off. NL: We all have a right to a self, to an interior world, and yet, in losing the ability to say no, we’ve become disassociated from our bodies and have rejected getting to know and take care of ourselves in favor of lying. Try This Next: Check in with yourself when you feel pressure to be or do something in a certain way—is this a preference or is this programming?

There isn’t a tipping point of people pleasing where you finally start reaping the rewards and you’re set free to be yourself. I came across a quote from Natalie Lue in an NPR article last year and it was so profound, I knew I wanted to read this book as soon as it came out. My intention has and always will be to help people overcome the emotional baggage that creates these patterns so that we enjoy more love, care, trust and respect and break these generational patterns. The Joy Of Saying No" will be an excellent book for those people who tend to please others a lot, each with their different reasons.

Peeps, don’t wait to be picked or for others to celebrate you, and please don’t burn yourself out trying to please others. No one could tell her the cause of her immune disease – sarcoidosis – nor offer a compelling path to curing it. I sometimes feel obligated to say yes all the time and the book gave me some strategies to help with that. But sometimes I’m easygoing to the point of self-harm, because I’ve often said ‘yes’, when what needed to come out of my mouth was the opposite.gets it, and I feel infinitely calmer and saner having stumbled upon this absolute gem of a self help book. Ich habe mich oft darin wiedergefunden und das, was ich selbst von mir kenne wie den ein oder anderen Grund.

Overall, I found this really well-organized and inviting for anyone looking to reexamine their motivations/actions and how to reevaluate their purposes and goals with people pleasing in mind. In his new book Great at Work: How Top Performers Work Less and Achieve More, based on a survey of 5,000 employees and managers in which work practices were charted against results, author Morten T.You’re acting like you have no choice, no say in what you’re doing, or you fear that you’re going to get into trouble or upset someone. My biggest problem with her approach is that the author determins the problem again as hers (or yours), instead of saying the problem are toxic, narcissistic people in her (or your) life.
