About this deal

The general principles laid down in the book will undoubtedly help anyone who reads it and follows the advice to feel happy and healthier. He bought a copy and read it on holiday and while he may have got some funny looks for his poolside choice of reading, James discovered many new insights about the perimenopause and menopause that he knew would really help his female clients in their quest to reach fitness and weight loss goals. Little did I know just how much the introduction would described every one of my habits throughout my life. James Smith has already changed thousands of lives with his international phenomenon Not A Diet Book. Not enough women know how our hormones and menstrual cycle influence fat loss and muscle strength, which can lead to a lot of disappointment and frustration.

From chapter to chapter the book retains a certain charm and enthusiasm while being both educational and entertaining. His second book ‘Not a Life Coach’ challenges readers to think about their own happiness and how to achieve it. The type of a person, who constantly compares themselves to others and feels like a failure, especially when scrolling through Instagram profiles of fitness influencers. I would like to read a book that goes into that topic as the main focus rather than just a small chapter. He obviously doesn't spend too much time on this matter because he is selling his way of influencing people. He delivers it in the form of a witty (in parts) and combative help yourself life coach memoir in which he hopes to send the reader on a journey of enlightened self discovery. It is just hammering home basic scientific principles - unfortunately a lot of “fitness advice” you’ve probably heard conflicts with the basic science. But, there was a flippancy and disregard of reality in just a few areas of the book that made me wary. Deliveries to destinations outside Australia are made by DHL courier, and cannot be made to post office boxes.

Like many people, I find his rants on social media entertaining because he gets so worked up about what other people are telling him to do. So if you want to go back and refer to the chapter on vitamins, you have to take guesses at which one this is. Then a chapter dedicated to the author's rather unremarkable life story, and currently running through a chapter on why the different main stream diets don't work.

By completing your purchase, you agree to Audible's Conditions of Use and authorise Audible to charge your designated card or any other card on file. I particularly loved the chapters about Type I and Type II diabetes (even if you don't have it, chances are someone in your life might have it or develop it later in life) and about female physiology and PCOS. For instance, despite stating he is no relationship guru, nor qualified career advisor, his advice of "if it's not f*ck yeah, it's a no," has dangerous connotations. The message he is trying to get across is clear and obvious and one that could be delivered in a third of the pages. However; I found out very fast that even though he wrote the words, it sounded like forcing a 12 year old to go read in front of his class.

I've participated in diets, attended slimming clubs, shared recipes, toned down my favourite foods into healthier alternatives, and sacrificed the food I enjoy. The author advises you to get moving, eat fewer calories, get enough sleep, supplement vitamin D, change your thinking from focusing on the goal to focusing on the journey. He says if you miss one work out of if you have a "calorie dense meal (aka cheat meal - he doesn't like to use this phrase) then it's O. This may result in small marks to the dustjacket and title page, please also bear in mind that each signature will be a little different from the one we show here. Here's the thing with books about losing weight/getting in shape - there are as many opinions, methods and approaches, as people, who preach about them. But written with very little intellect and aimed at such a group of people that won't have a lasting impression in most.

We are proud to say that balance app is certified by the leading digital health organisation, ORCHA, who review and approve health apps for the NHS and multiple national health bodies around the world. Then everything he talks about, it's like he is talking about how good he is and then has a come back for all the critics that are going to nay say about the thing he just talked about. His social media and online presence will only reach so many people, and despite how much his following has grown in the last few years, a book, published and released into the wild, will reach a much vaster audience, and likely a good chunk of those readers will not know who he is or what he's about. One sentence, and James has opened my eyes to weight loss in ways NO ONE else did for an entire decade.
