Note that it does have the catch-up apps and whether you use them or not you will need to be connected to the internet, and this needs to be via a cable as there is no wifi (you can use powerline adaptors or similar if router is not conveniently located). You might need to attach some stick-on rubber feet to the side of the box that it rests on to stop any vibration/noise reaching the supporting furniture/surface. Recordings made in high-def are likely to be encrypted, standard definition recordings might be more accessible.
