About this deal

I had tried Eyeskey 10x42 professional waterproof binoculars but had trouble with their field of view and the focusing knob.

After using them for birding around the house here in the Appalachians (I am surrounded by woods and birds! Like most binoculars, the frame has been covered with a hard rubber armoring which will protect them from scratching as well as small bumps and knocks and helps to improve you grip on them.

Their coatings, quality glass help to take and transmit as much of the gathered light as possible to your eyes, which can rally help and is indeed most noticable when lighting conditions are not great or even poor. The actual focusing mechanism is geared so that it takes about 1 and a quarter turns of the wheel to go from infinity to it's minimum focusing distance, which is about middle of the road when compared to most other binoculars. This rubber armour also has a number of another benefits, including making the device less reflective and will also dampen down any sounds, if say your watch or ring strikes against the barrel - these are important features if you want to remain unnoticed when observing timid birds and other wildlife. Before I bought this I was using my brother's Nikon Monarch 5 12x42 binoculars and this Carson performs just as well IMHO and that's darn good as the Nikon Monarch 5 uses ED glass.

It lacks loops that allow for more freedom of movement between the padded section of the strap and the cords that connect to the optics that I sometimes find on the very best neck straps, this is however a very small thing. In addition, the VP-832 8x32mm Binoculars have phase correcion coatings on the prism glass and are waterproof and fog proof. In deed, I gave the Steiner AZ830 Binoculars a five star rating as well but wanted a new pair of binoculars that had a real 'wow' factor. Nitrogen purged body and O-ring seal make these binoculars waterproof and fog proof, while also providing protection from dust, debris and moisture. Whilst as you say, you have already read my review of the 10x42 Carson 3D on BBR, I thought I would add a few more personal comments here. This is the area where the ED glass used in these optics should make a difference as it should help to minimise the amount of chromatic aberration (color fringing).

The Carson XM Series Binoculars also feature a rubberized armor coating and the body is nitrogen purged and O-ring sealed making them waterproof and fogproof. Like other Carson products (I have the 8 x 42 Carson 3D series), these are an exceptional value for the money, and I highly recommend them! With these binoculars, you'll be able to see distant objects with incredible detail, bringing the world around you to life. once we have a clear night I'll put them on a tripod to do some viewing of the Pleiades, the moon and Venus.Strong Points: The standout features of these Carson 10x42 3D binoculars is their lightweight and compact body that looks great. Hunting is another ideal use for them and I would say that they are easily light and adaptable enough so as to be considered great general use optics.
