Kim Stone's genuine friendship with her sidekick DS Bryant and her encouragement towards DS Kev Dawson and DC Stace Woods adds a real warmth to Silent Scream and Marson's flair for characterisation is evident. Silent Scream is a brilliantly written, complex story, and a great start to a fantastic series of books. I utterly adored Kim's mental abilities, her instinctive nature and, at a few rare moments, her kind heart. I. Kim Stone's inability to hide her feelings and a genuine rapport and respect for her team that shines through and her innate empathy makes her a character to vie for.

The outcome of the crime that had been committed remained ever-present in the back of my mind throughout reading, and so did the niggle to to find out what had truly happened. Her inspiration is derived from the memory of the death of her twin at the age of six and the feeling of failure as she watched his life extinguished. The MC isn’t a great socialite, and we find out why as we go, but she clearly cares about her team and knows them well. Combining a gripping plot with a lightening fast pace, a wonderful sense of place and some sparky characters who stay with readers, this is nigh on perfection and the added empathy of Angela Marsons is the icing on the cake!

Someone has also set fire to the front of the building to tidy up any loose strings that may lead to the killer. She might not be able to show it or say it, but you know that she cares, and she has a team that respects her all the more for it. one of the best crime thrillers I’ve read in a long time, and that includes… authors such as James Patterson! This plot was complex and layered like an onion; as I kept reading I kept peeling away new levels to the individual case and to what I assume is part of the continuing storyline.

A woman has been found murdered in a bathtub and the murder seems to be linked to a body that is discovered a little while later buried at a former children’s home. Despite the grim detail there is quite a bit of humour in the story and although Stone is difficult you can understand why her team love and support her. Every time I read a book by this author I feel that it's her best yet and A Daughter's Courage is no different. Years later, a headmistress is found strangled, the first in a spate of gruesome murders which shock the Black Country.She is complex and comes complete with her own demons that she keeps in a dark secluded corner of her mind, seldom to be allowed out to play. The story line was completely believable and continued to draw me in all the way to the brilliant finale.
