But while there are similarities there is a complexity to OCS's sound that's all their own, and it's at this point that I realise that that's where the strengths of this album lie.

The band suddenly catapulted back into the spotlight because of its superstar connections, but the music actually deserved the attention. Very uplifting and hard hitting tracks / guitar riffs - a few of which have been employed by popular movies. In March 2011, the band released a 15th anniversary special edition of their 1996 hit album Moseley Shoals. Despite the emotionally draining lyrics of next up "One for the Road" at its core it's a fun infectious dance number. In 2014 a special edition of Marchin' Already was released on a 2 CD edition and a special deluxe 4 disc box set which included a DVD of their live performance at Stirling Castle in 1998.

When the Birmingham quartet recorded Moseley Shoals in their tiny home studio, there wasn't a label that wanted them. A vinyl reissue of the second full length album from Ocean Colour Scene, originally released in 1996.

They even played on the "Moseley Shoals 15th Anniversary Tour", which they didn't originally record on. Their recording studio "Moseley Shoals" in Moseley, Birmingham pays homage to the famous Muscle Shoals studio in America. With its distinctive sound and heartfelt lyrics "Mosely Shoals" is a genuine timeless classic and was worth every one of the admittedly relatively few pennies I spent on my second-hand disc. However "It's My Shadow" that follows is perhaps, for me at least, the lowest point of the album, it's not that there's anything actually wrong with this nice reflective slice of Britpop but in the company of the other great songs here nice and reflective is all it is. When their record label was swallowed up by larger company Phonogram their eponymous début album was remixed, against the band's wishes, to fit in with the Baggy/indie-dance musical trend of the time.

On 11 October 2010, the band released a 4-CD box set, 21, to celebrate the 21st anniversary of the band. Penultimate track "You've Got It Bad" was another single, and is a great Britpop song before the nearly eight minutes of closing track "Get Away", the longest track here. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Moseley’ takes its name from an area in Birmingham, Moseley Shoals is a tribute to Muscle Shoals, the legendary soul recording studios in Alabama. In 2006 the band released a live acoustic album, Live at the Jam House, which consisted of fifteen live tracks and also contained four new songs in "Great Man in Waiting", "The Word", "Still Trying" and "Matilda's England".
