Sillage is moderate and longevity is good with the edt natural spray, a higher concentration probably performs better. I’ve since moved on to others and never looked back until recently when helping my daughter track down a fragrance. It was presented by Jean Patou as \'the world\'s most expensive perfume\' right at the time of The Great Depression in 1929, when the market of luxury fashion crushed and Jean Patou\'s house could survive only through the perfumes. The combination of oriental-notes makes this seductive and alluring, perfect for a romantic evening. Going back to the jasmine, that indolic aspect is what Dior was emulating with Diorissimo (different flower of course).

Clearing out some papers last week I found a couple of folded sheets of paper that for god knows what reason I printed out years ago. Achingly beautiful, infinitely better than the current EDP and EDT, which I really like, but don't love the way I love this. Red roses and jasmine blooming at dawn indeed smell like this strong, with some almost animalic richness. Experiencing this for the first time, it has been ringing a bell, distinctly reminding me of Amouage Gold Homme and, to a lesser extent, Hammam Bouquet. I will say that the pure parfum is richer and seems to be of slightly higher quality overall, while the (more affordable) EDP is brighter, but extremely similar and still very pretty.

I have my own vintage bottle of Eau de Joy and despite the fictions of memory, reformulation of perfume, and all the years, I still think of my mother when I open the bottle. I remember this perfume in very fond way as this is kind of fragrance that makes one willing to embrace oneself as one is. Yes, those notes are present, but I have never known a single person describe Joy as "tuberose for days". Intending to recapture the gorgeous, opulent scent of Joy, I visited my local perfume department and was devastated to find the Joy of the 2000s bore zero resemblance to the original.

Parfum keeps its richness all the way to a soft beautiful scent like EDT after hours on the ultimate drydown, while EDT is kinda of dusted flowers like old perfume when it is eventually developed. IFRA happened, laws about allergens came into play, many ingredients became banned or simply disappeared, naturals are very expensive, and tastes changed.

Someone mentioned the old 70s rose soaps, I can vaguely see the red and pink packaging in my minds eye as a toddler and indeed the smell is similar. I don't believe I ever smelled it when it was first made, but what I am smelling now, many newer fragrance ((1990's an on), can't hold a candle to this beauty.I was sitting alone at a rooftop bar and sprayed a bit one while feeling a bit tipsy and waiting to meet a date. I don't wear it too often, but it fullfills every desire I could ever have from a fragrance (at this current time). I just picked up a vintage bottle of EDJ because I'd fallen in love with a more recent incarnation of Joy EDT.
