It’s in the chaotic aftermath that Stone takes on a new, more urgent assignment: find those responsible for the bombing.

Liberty Hardy is a Book Riot senior contributing editor, co-host of All the Books, a Book of the Month judge, and above all else, a ravenous reader. The president has personally requested that Stone personally requested that Stone serve his country again on a high risk covert mission. Given the amount of tacit knowledge implied, this book is definitely written as one of a series, and not one that you can start the series with. But their opponents are elusive and increasingly lethal, and Stone enlists the help of the only people he knows he can trust: the Camel Club. Oliver Stone--once the most skilled assassin his country ever had, stands in Lafayette park in front of the White House, perhaps for the last time.

But before Stone can do his work for the President a bomb goes off across the street from the White House creating the scenario where conclusions are drawn, angles are worked and assumptions made. Clearly that was an indication that Baldacci was coming to a closure with this series, even if one hadnt known prior to reading this book. This was an amazing thriller with a political conspiracy that was so twisted, I couldn’t see, let alone guess the ending.

This was reading The Memory Man - the plot was very intriguing and kept me guessing on WTF was happening. For all the losses he has suffered there has been the gain in his friends and cohorts known as the Camel Club. All of the characters interacted well together and I did not figure out who the villain was until the end. The Camel Club is my favorite of David Baldacci's series because of its misfit crew led by a homeless vet who lives in a cemetery a little north of Georgetown. As far as recommending this book to other readers, if you enjoy amazing writing and being inside the main character's brain, this is the book for you. And considering he's now at the top of the FBI's Most Wanted list, will Oliver Stone ever get out from under the shadow of his past? Enter British MI-6 operative Marry Chapman as Carr/Stone's partner in investigating the bombing attempt on the PM.

His books are published in over 45 languages and in more than 80 countries, with 150 million copies sold worldwide. It has great dialogue, great narration and some pretty interesting action sequences – all aspects of a Baldacci novel that will keep you turning the pages. Stone is not his real name; he chose it because of the famous director who is also into conspiracy theories. There were instances that were too obvious, leaving me a little bored with the amount of time it took the characters to figure it out. I decided to read his novels as I was trying to get out of my usual reading routine - and by “my usual routine” I mean, novels written by John Grisham and Sidney Sheldon.
