The dedication which starts this book is such an important message also and it is fantastic that there are avenues for help listed at the back with contact details for anyone in crisis and who needs them. When another murder occurs, albeit in a different manner, with the same level of brutality and hateful viciousness it suggests that the same killer is at work. With no forensic evidence to go on, Robert Hunter must catch the most disciplined and systematic killer that he has ever encountered, someone who thrives on the victims' fear, and to whom death is a lesson that needs to be taught. He uses a strong narrative to set the scene, adding highly descriptive moments and short chapters to keep the reader intrigued and wanting to read more. I found Genesis to be along similar lines to his other books but with a bit of a twist - or so I thought anyway .

The story twists in just the right places, leaving you trying to work out the killer without success and does an excellent job of keeping it from becoming too predictable. If you love your crime thrillers to be of the cosy type, then this is definitely not the book for you. But I will say, this book contains situation that might be difficult for some readers, the killer is almost relatable (up to a point) and an important message is hidden in the pages.
